Already accepted this Thursday. I called the school that offered me a position to tell them I had taken another job already.
We’re currently negotiating that part. Looks like I’ll start either May 30th or June 6th, depending on the schedule demands of my current employer.
Pretty much everyone already knew. As with many teaching positions, they ask you to let them know in advance if you’ll be coming back for the next school year. My boss has known I was planning on leaving for almost two months now. It’s a little tricky, letting your current employer know you’re leaving before you have another job in hand, but it’s common courtesy in the teaching field.
The odd bit is that since I’m not going into a job that works on a school-year schedule, I have to leave before the end of the school year, but everyone has been very understanding about that… they had me scheduled to work this summer too, but it looks like another teacher is stepping up into that role, so I don’t think there will be any schedule problems with my departure. Win-win all 'round!
