Your personal hits and misses of the new TV season

Elementary is the one new show I’m watching.

I’m surprised at the Ben & Kate love. The pilot seemed funny enough, but we just took it off series recording status because we’ve watched the rest, waiting to laugh. Still waiting…

The New Normal is good background TV. I just don’t want to see it pull a How I Met Your Mother where the surrogate is perpetually pregnant and the baby is never born.

I wanted to check out Nashville but I don’t get it OTA here and I just never think of streaming it from the network’s site.

Shoot me if you must—I like Partners. The writing makes sense in this context and is funny in a non-laugh track kind of way. A lot of the gay guys I knew were drag queens so maybe I’m used to over-the-top, but I think the friendship is aptly portrayed.

I’m trying Chicago Fire as opposed to Nashville. Aren’t there already enough soaps?

Revolution is insulting.

I still don’t know why The Middle or Raising Hope hasn’t toppled Modern Family. If you like your humor cookie-cutter it’s still lacking in anything progressive; it’s reflective. And also slapstick in its execution.

I know it’s off-topic but I have to agree with Becky - I prefer The Middle and/or Raising Hope to Modern Family. Just don’t get the over-the-top praise for that show.

I wish Chicago Fire were better because I like Jesse Spencer.

I’m loving Go On and Animal Practice. And I detest The New Normal. It seems to me like a schticky throwback to what gay culture “was” in the 90’s.

I kinda like the Mindy Project. It’s a leetle too “self conscious about being overweight” for my taste. Like the episode where her colleague tells her to lose weight? And she’s furious? It’s a mean fact but it’s still a fact. I don’t like her insecurities clouding her humor and the overall tone. Supporting cast getting better here, IMO.
