In the latest of a never-ending series of GD threads on race,Chula posted a link to a very informative PBS site.

One of the things you can do at this site is sort people by race. I totally suck at it, getting only one-- that’s right one– person right per group. I’d like to think that this is because I just don’t think along those lines when I meet someone, but that’s not really true. “Where are you from?” is a question I’ve been known to ask.

So, how good are you at sorting people?

P.S. This is not a debate on race. This is a thread about a test. If you wish to debate the question of race, please post to the already existing GD thread linked to above. Thanks.

I also got six right. An intersting lesson in the “you can’t judge a book by its cover” concept.

I got eight right. Two in each race except hispanic.

This was a hard exercize for me because I never look at people and try to classify them by “race”. I looked at each picture and had the same reaction: “I dunno”. I only got 3 in the “right” groups.

I got 5 right. Doesn’t surprise me, tho. I’m not too good at picking up physical cues. Does that mean I’m not very observant or that looks really aren’t important to me??

I only got five right. And the only reason I would care is because it’s interesting to find out what people’s ancestry is, not because I’m going to deliberately make assumptions based on said ancestry.

Those pictures are way too small so I didn’t finish the sort. I plan on exploring the rest of the site, however.

I only got three right, but I think I’d have done a little bit better if I had realized I could get larger pictures.
