Your Ultimate Mix Tape

If you had to make a mix tape to represent who you are,
a soundtrack for your soul if you will,
what would be on it?

We should probably limit to 12 songs. So here’s mine:

Morrissey- “Sing Your Life”
REM- “You Are Everything”
The Pogues- “Sunny Side of the Street”
Billy Joel- “Captain Jack”
Jimmy Buffett- “A Pirate Looks at Forty”
Concrete Blonde- “Joey”
Counting Crows- “Mrs. Potter’s Lullaby”
Marah- “Formula”
Dada- “Here Today, Gone Tommorrow”
The Cure- “Letter to Elise”
Depeche Mode- “Stripped”
Mazzy Star- “Fade Into You”

So that’s me. How about you?

This is easy. I just have to read the indices from some of my “Lisa’s Favorites” c.d’s., compliments of Napster (MGRIS).

Elvis - In the Ghetto
Dru Hill/Mariah Carey - The Beautiful Ones
REM - (This One Goes Out To) The One I Love
Berlin - Take my Breath Away
Melissa Etheridge - I’m the Only One
Simon & Garfunkel - The Boxer (live)
Trisha Yearwood - Sleep While I Drive
Phil Collins - In the Air Tonight
Sting - Come Down in Time
Luther Vandross - All the Woman I Need
Eric Clapton - You Look Wonderful Tonight (live)
Andrea Bocelli - Sogno

Last Goodbye – Jeff Buckley
I Don’t Need a Hero – Concrete Blonde
A Place Called Home – PJ Harvey
The Cedar Room – The Doves
Talk Tonight – Oasis
Just – Radiohead
No Aphrodisiac – The Whitlams
Hand in My Pocket – Alanis Morisette
Cigarettes Will Kill You – Ben Lee
Tender – Blur
Distant Sun – Crowded House
Hazy Shade of Winter – The Bangles
The Ship Song – Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
frock75, that’s a great collection - I especially love “Joey” and “Fade Into You”. You must have a good soul.

“Pretty Good Year” - Tori Amos
“Fields of Gold” - Sting
“Little Wing” - Jimi Hendrix
“Off He Goes” - Pearl Jam
“Heart of Gold” - Neil Young
“Don’t Dream It’s Over” - Crowded House
“Mayonnaise” - The Smashing Pumpkins
“3 Libras” - A Perfect Circle
“Where Did You Sleep Last Night” - Nirvana
“Fade Into You” - Mazzy Star

Nicko, it’s nice to see another Crowded House fan out there (assuming that you like more than just that one song).

An aside here, one time I made a mix tape with a “Happy” and “Depressing” side. On the happy side I’d included “White, Discussion” by Live and “It’s the End of the World As We Know It” by REM. That’s right, two songs that allude to the end of the world on the “happy” side.

Led Zeppelin, Kashmir

Sir Adrian Boult doing Vaughn-Williams’ Fantasia on a Theme of Thomas Tallis

Alan Parsons Project, In the Real World

Beth Nielsen Chapman, Sand and Water

George Winston, Variations on the Canon

Pink Floyd, Chapter 24

Queen, The Prophet’s Song

Stokowski’s take on Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade, 4th mvmt

Sarah McLachlan, Fumbling Toward Ecstasy

Meat Loaf, Two out of Three Ain’t Bad

Eugene Ormandy conducting Richard Wagner, Tannhaüser Overture

Kansas, Carry On Wayward Son

I’ve started a list, but this could take a while. Let me get back to you…

REM, “Country Feedback”
The Offspring, “Staring at the Sun”
Green Day, “Prosthetic Head”
Mercury Rev, “Tonite it Shows”
Nirvana, “Lithium”
Sex Pistols, “Anarchy in the UK”
Idlewild, “Little Discourage”
Teenage Fanclub, “The Concept”
Melissa Etheridge, “I’m the only one”
Bad Religion, “Struck a Nerve”
Alanis Morisette, “Forgiven”
REM, “Bang and Blame”

Yeah, I know, two REM songs. Sue me. :stuck_out_tongue:
