I…I need more detail. How do I heat the donut? Frying pan? Microwave? Oven? Do I make transverse or vertical cuts? How is the butter to be applied? What kind?
Sure, being one of millions of people makes me awesome. Somehow.
lol! “predicted” her predilection?
I live in America and love anchovies, herring, mackerel and other “fishy tasting” fish, including fish paste (the kind that comes in tubes like toothpaste, excellent on buttered toast, and I wish it was easy to find here) and pickled herring. I order my pizza with anchovies. jz78817, thanks for giving me the name for pickled herring. There’s a Russian grocery store not too far from me that sells it - the real deal, not in a jar.
I grew up in Europe and regard the complaint that many fish products are too “fishy tasting” as an American idiosyncracy.
Also I really like those chocolate and powdered donuts sold at gas stations.
Not really food as such, but when I take aspirin, I always chew the pills up. I actually kind of like the taste.
I too like coffee that has come to room temperature. When I was drinking it on a regular basis, I’d get a cup, have a sip or two, then set it down and get busy doing something. I’d come back to it and it would be stone cold, and I would gulp it down. People thought I was weird.
My favorite breakfast is cold, leftover fried shrimp.
Yes, without the roll thing.
I also prefer eating a lot of things from a knife. Straight. Peanut butter, cheese spreads, tuna salad.
And probably not so weird, but I love bologna wrapped around American cheese-yes, that processed American cheese food stuff.
YES! We could be twins!
How do you feel about cold, as in: room temp, leftover pizza? Its easier to eat when its not going to burn my mouth and have the cheese thwap me on the chin.
Leftover field peas, nice and chilly right from the fridge. A strangely savory salty treat.
Pickled herring is quite normal Norway, Sweden and Denmark.
My DH will eat a big spoonful of peanut butter as a snack (he’s diabetic, so needs low-carb, high-protein snacks), but it takes him a bit longer to get through a jar.
I do this too.
My big texture issue is soggy bread or pastry. Can’t stand cake or pie that’s had ice cream on it, although I like the individual items.
I tend to eat pizza toppings first, then the crust.
My DH does that with just about any tablet. Eeeewwww.
I eat paper. Not often, just occasionally, as a snack. It tastes good. Kinda like celery, but without any crunch, just softness.
A few days? Hell, I’m lucky if it lasts a few hours. I love that stuff to death and will eat it till I’m sick and then eat some more just because I can.
My odd combination is breakfast link sausages covered in peanut butter. For some reason I just love the combination and it’s the best when the sausages are nice and hot and melt the peanut butter just a bit.
Comfort food (learned from grandfather) is taking graham crackers, breaking them into bits in a bowl, sprinkle sugar (I know, they are already sweet) and then pouring milk into bowl.
I knew a guy who would call and have a pizza delivered late at night, before going to bed. He would not touch it. He would leave it on the counter in the kitchen and when he woke up in the morning, that was breakfast! Mind you, this guy was a bodybuilder and had the proverbial six pack stomach, but he only like to have cold, stale pizza for breakfast.
My ex-sister-in-law loved fried eggs, sunny side up, and would put huge dollops of grape jelly on them and mash it up. Looks absolutely disgusting, but it was her breakfast of choice.
BTW, although I don’t drink coffee much anymore, count me as another who cannot stand hot coffee. I usually put in a couple of ice cubes and get it cool/cold before I can drink it. How people can swallow (practically) boiling drinks is beyond me.
This one isn’t too weird, because It’s not something I invented and plenty of people like it just fine, but for me, even a brief thought of it almost sends me into an uncontrollable hunger and drool-filled frenzy. In fact, as I am typing this now about to share with you the food that I love, I am salivating like mad.
American cheese singles and mayonnaise or miracle whip on white bread. I don’t even like sandwiches that much. I’m really not a big fan of american cheese singles either. But for some reason I really, really love those sandwiches.
Ham and jam on buttered toast. Apricot, peach, and berry jams are the best.
Haven’t moved up to Spam and jam yet, but I imagine that’s pretty good too.
Peanut butter and bacon on toast - best thing ever. (Ooh, and I think I have a bit of bacon left from Xmas…Breakfast!! :D)
I love sardines. That may be lunch, come to think of it.
Triscuits and butter are a favorite snack.
Coffee and tea are best either screaming hot (with hot milk and sugar, please) or room temp. Ice cold is good too, but not that lukewarm been-sitting-for-10-minutes temp.
Evening reading in bed snack is graham crackers dunked in red wine (shiraz, pinot, cab, nothing too sweet)
My grandmother used to make those sandwiches for us as kids! However, she used a mayo that already had pickle relish in it (do they still make that stuff?), so if you really want to add some pizazz, put a teaspoon of pickle relish on the mayo when you make your next sandwich.
