When my wife and I moved here a couple of years ago, it didn’t take us long to notice that 99% of people on the roads are complete fuckwits. I’m not talking about minor annoyances, I’m talking about seriously dangerous moves that imperil the lives of others (or in a couple of cases this year, actually end them), simply because the drivers are too impatient, stupid, or ignorant to be allowed on the road. My wife and I seriously considered moving solely because of how poorly people drive here.
Last night, in our local paper, there was an advertisement that the Discovery Channel is coming to Milton as part of a documentary on bad drivers. Apparently, Milton had 770 motor vehicle accidents in 2002. That’s more than 2 a day! In a town whose population, at that time, was about 36,000.
So congratulations Milton! You’ve been pitted by the Discovery Channel! (And by me, you fucking dumbasses.)
From the tone of the article, and some other info they provided, I’m almost positive that it’s Milton proper they’re talking about, and not that stretch of the 401.
I’ve lived in St. Catharines, Dundas, Hamilton, Burlington, Oakville and Toronto, and I’ve been driving in southern Ontario for 20 years. Milton is a whole 'nother animal when it comes to bad drivers. Maybe it’s something in the water. Or the mullets. Man, there’s lots of mullets.
To be fair doesn’t Milton get a lot of “thru-traffic”? Do you guys have lots of trucks or heavy industry?
The documentry needs to focus on idiots on the Gardiner/QEW/DVP. If they mounted a camera on my car they’d have, easily, no less than 1 near miss by idiot drivers per trip I make to work and back.
As far as I know, we don’t get a lot of thru-traffic. Maybe in the north part of the city, which is a little more industrial.
Where I notice the great fuckaree that is Milton driving is on the regular surface roads. You want to see an accident? Come to the corner of Derry Road and 4th Line at morning rush hour, say around 8:00 am. The aforementioned fatalities both occurred there. Why? Because the people on 4th Line decided that they had waited long enough to go, so they now had the right of way.
I really hate how these fuckers ruin it for everyone else. I hate the propagation of traffic lights in Mississauga and the general Toronto area.
I mean, come on. My work building does not need a fucking light! The sensor doesn’t work so half the time I’m cutting through 6 lanes of traffic (right turn then immediate U-turn) which is much harder to do thanks for a fucking island. Why the fuck can’t they program lights with flashing yellow/reds unless traffic is heavy? God damnit out traffic systems are a fucking joke.
I remember seeing a video online (I think it was posted here) about a news caster reporting on a “dangerous intersection” when a car blasts through a red light and gets t-boned. I betcha there’s going to be a fucking useless light there soon!
I’ve seen the video you’re talking about. There was no light at that intersection. The dumbass who pulled out was busy watching the guy making the video, and pulled out after someone made a left in front of him (blocking his view to the left), without knowing whether anyone was coming. His jackassery was instantly rewarded.
And there isn’t one at 4th and Derry. There needs to be though. The fuckwits need it badly.
