YouTube channels about movie making

I have been watching some YouTube channels that analyze movie making techniques, mostly covering writing and directing. The ones I’ve watched the most are called “Every Scene a Painting,” “The Art of Storytelling,” and “Moviewise.” The last one is a bit over the top sometimes, and he tries too hard to be funny or hip or something, but some of his stuff has been very informative. I also like that we don’t see the talking head (except for the middle one in short bursts) because I hate watching videos of talking heads.

For those out there who are also interested in this sort of thing, I would be interested in any suggestions for additional channels along these lines that I might explore.

You might check out Lessons from the Screenplay. (It may be defunct now but there is a lot there)

I really like StudioBinder. I always think of it as a channel whose target audience is film students while still perfectly accessible to everyone.

and as I see the thumbnail, I should mention that they do push their software, but usually no more than a mention of it at the end of the video.

History Buffs, who reconciles one’s love of history with one’s love for cinema; often an acrimonious union.

Patrick H Willems maybe? He is somewhat of a talking head, and his diversions into comedy to break up the film analysis are not as good as he thinks they are, but he is very smart.

I like her channel a lot.

Michael Tucker is fantastic. His videos can be so well-informed.

I do also like Thomas Flight.

Matt Baume’s channel might be of interest too. He focuses on “pop culture history from a queer perspective” but that’s really just a lot of history of Hollywood. It’s not only about movies but they figure a large part.
