Why does it take so long to upload a video on youtube. I takes 3-4 hours to upload an program that last an hour.

It most likely is simply due to how your Internet connection is set up by your ISP. Many (most?) plans for individuals rather than companies have much faster download speeds than upload speeds. So, the answer is to buy a more expensive plan from your ISP.
I have a Google Fiber internet connection with a full gigabit of upload speed, and sometimes uploading to YouTube is slower than uploading to a lot of other sites. For instance, Vimeo’s upload speed is far better than YouTube. Personally, I think Google should set at least one set of servers aside for the exclusive use of Google Fiber subscribers, but so we can demonstrate the speed to people.
