I just noticed I’m around 125 posts. . .where has the time gone?
Anyhow, I have a problem and I’d like to tap the collective brainpower of my fellow Dopers to help solve it. Since I’ve been on the boards, I’ve ended my messages with the following:

Zappo
The origins of this little item have their roots in a joke from my college days that would involve a long-winded story, so I won’t get into it here.
Lately folks have been noticing that my closing is identical to that used by a person who’s been banned from the boards. Since I don’t want to cause confusion and I don’t want to get mixed up with this person (whom I’ve never met but sounds like a real jerk), I’m soliciting your help for a new closing to use here on the boards.
Fellow Dopers, do you have any ideas for a better signoff? Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks!
If it was me, I’d change the ‘Zappo’ bit to ‘Zippo’.
This is similar enough to the original to enable you to retain some sort of identity, yet different enough to disassociate you from the activities of Satan.
This new signoff could also attract sponsorship if you handle the negotiations skilfully.
I think my comment went over your head. We used to have a poster here with the handle Satan, who would always end his posts with “yer pal, Satan”. My quote was, of course, also a reference to the Church Lady from Saturday Night Live when it used to be funny.
As a survey, more or less, this should probably have been posted in IMHO. It’s mundanity might even merit MPSIMS.
Regardless, I get nethack vibes (zapping the wands) when I look at your name, so I’d probably go with a nethack reference, like “Zappo: Bane of shopkeepers everywhere” or something.
