Someone suggested saying “Fuck Zette” instead of “hi Opal”, since I said it irritated me to see the “Hi Opal” “What’s that all about” thread hijacks all the time. I laughed at it and apparently gave the impression that it was OK with me and a good thing.
It’s not. I thought it was just people goofing around in that thread, but I’ve seen it again and I want to nip it in the bud. The reason I hate the “Hi Opal” is NOT anything to do with Opal, but rather that it is old and tired and always results in people saying “Who’s opal?” and such and bringing threads off track. Please don’t do it- it isn’t funny and I don’t want to see it spread. I thought it was funny in the thread where we were discussing annoying board habits, but it’s not in the real world.
I promise I will never, ever post those words. Unless it’s apropriate. Like if there is ever a thread titled What Did Zette’s Husband Do On His Honeymoon, I might type those words. But not until then.

I have never used “Hi Opal” (I dare you all to do a search and prove me wrong)… even when I was a newbie, I refused to use it just because Crunchy Frog told me to!
As for “Fuck Zette,” I will never use that, either. If the Opal thing is getting really old, this will too, in time. Not that I haven’t been guilty of using old, tired jokey-type things myself, but honestly…
