Zepplins vs Pterodactyls!

The movie that needs to be made!

Naked boobies is all this film would need.

If they could have hired Vincent Price to star…golden!

If the Sci-Fi channel hasn’t done this already, I can almost guarantee they will eventually

This is Hollywood we’re talking about. Someone will make it eventually. I see Troy McClure in the lead role.

The USS Akron which really did have parasitic fighters, was lost at sea during a storm. That would make a great premise for traveling in time, space, 4th dimesion, whatever. I believe the Bermuda triangle gets moved all over the place, so New Jersey shouldn’t be difficult.

THE LAND THAT TIME FORGOT was a B-movie rush, perfect Drive-In fare. Unfortunately it was made at the beginning of the end of the drive in era.

Why don’t we go straight to the source?

Tarzan at the Earth’s Core by Edgar Rice Burroughs.

It has a zeppelin, with parasitic fighters. It has dinosaurs. It has scantily-clad cavebabes. It has Tarzan. It has lizard-men. (It’s been a while since I read it, but I think it even has some pirates in it.)

Oh my.

That is win with awesome sauce…

The Sky People, by S. M. Stirling has just such a passage.Airship expedition setting out from American basecamp across the largely unexplored main continent on Venus crashes after pterosaur attack

I sing baritone, and am skilled in 1930s overacting.
I own a naval aviator’s uniform, with goggles and everything.
I know not to pronounce the p in pterodactyl.

You need me on this picture.

It’s a pretty good one, but as I recall the earlier Pellucidar books were even better. Too bad people only ever remember his first Tarzan book anymore. :frowning:

What? No love for his John Carter of Mars series? How could anyone forget the incomparable Dejah Thoris?

Dinotopia could’ve had such a scene. In fact, perhaps it did - I fell asleep after the first half hour.

Guano-

My younger daughter (the geek) confirms that there was no zepplin-related scenes in Dinotopia, which made it an extremely disappointing movie.

Indeed, a pair of parasitic fighters as I have never seen.

Pterodactyls would have made that Sky Captains… atrocity, er… less of an atrocity.

Well, it wasn’t bad, but I wasn’t really the target audience for beautiful alien princesses when I was working my way through his catalog, being a) a straight female, and b) seven or eight years old.

As I recall, there was one, wasn’t there?

Is it anything like Cadillacs and Dinosaurs?

Maybe. I couldn’t watch it all the way through. If there was one, they sould have put it in earlier to keep me awake.
