ZOMBIE THREADSPOTTING: Bacon Salt
My wife puts up with my little foibles. Thank goodness.

She supported my decision to endulge in some BaconSalted goodness, but was resistant to the idea.

Friday night I cooked some Pork Loin Chops, (as I think I mentioned).

“Delicious!” she declared.
“BaconSalt!”, I riposted.

The look of mixed annoyance (for being right), horror (that she had eaten the BaconSalt at all) and admiration (for my nicely timed counterattack) was truly soemthing to remember.

Hahaha! Always fun to sneak the pork (flavor) into the wife.

Aaaaaaaaaaand another Doper succumbs to the temptations of the (veganly correct) flesh and orders the three-pack!

Waiting…

I checked my bank balance and decided that even though I have some bills to pay I’d go ahead and order a couple 3 packs. I’m tired of having my bacon salt vicariously, soon I will be one of the cool kids.

I got the second 3 pack for a gift.

According to their blog, the Hickory flavor is vegan; the Original and Peppered are merely vegetarian.

I know I’ll eventually have to order some… sigh. I do love bacon.

Adding Bacon Salt to the breading for Fried Chicken.
Just reporting back on this one: In one word? Mother effing awesome!!

As I said before, I seasoned the (very thin) breast chunks with Hickory Bacon Salt (may the Gods of bacon salt be praised) and then did the standard breading. I was hoping that by stashing the Bacon salt under the breading I could avoid the heat degradation mentioned above. Worked like a charm. The bacon flavor wasn’t overpowering, but a perfect background note.

The SO, who was initially skeptical (Heretic! But I have deferred the ritual burning at the stake), loved it.

An admission, I have taken to delivering a shot of Bacon Salt directly into my mouth on occasion as I walk through the kitchen. Anyone else not able to keep their hands off the stuff?
How many UK dopers would want in on that? How many AU/NZ, for that matter?
You know they’re not connected, right? :stuck_out_tongue:

This is great, though. A wonderful story about how the internet and a special bacon-flavored something is bringing people together.

I had some of mine on broccoli last night, and it was awesome. I also had some off of my finger, which was nearly as awesome.
Bacon bacon bacon bacon bacon

I used the original twice today, once with pasta carbonana, and once with baked chicken. Both are very VERY tasty!

No problem; I’m an omnivore.

Absolutely — but it’s got to be cheaper to ship from, f’rinstance, Seattle to Wellington to Sydney than to ship from Seattle to Wellington and Sydney. And the UK people could send their stuff through the post, once it got there. Just sayin’.

Popped some BaconSalt in my mashed potato’s, and it was the best mashed potato’s ever. The glowing nimbus of awesome surrounding the spuds made it hard to eat, but I managed it.

Tomorrow night, I’m panfrying some chicken. I think I’m gonna do the baconsalt trick. That sounds great.

I’m gonna have to order some more, I think.

I’ve tried it on cottage cheese and salad. I can report that both are excellent. Couldn’t say which flavor I tried; I just grab whichever is at hand.

Indeedy, so stop with the procrastination and get with the sending :stuck_out_tongue:

If a UK Doper would be so kind as to agree to send me a carton of Silk Cut cigarettes, I’ll be more than happy to send them a 3-pack of Bacon Salt.

Silk cut ciggies are £40+ for 200, about $80

They do send to the UK, right? The website makes it seem so.

I just broke down and ordered the three-pack. What is this world coming to that I’d pay nearly $20 for three little bottles of untried condiment?

StG

It’s coming to Bacon, and the Bacon Pope shall lead us. Haven’t you been paying attention?

10 packs cost that much?

Maybe we should have a snack treat exchange thread.

At the risk of outing myself as one of the few who does not yet have my threepack…

Someone, please, sprinkle some on half of an avocado, savor with a spoon, and then report back to us.
