I’m currently on the road (again) and my Zune seems to be locked up. All I get is a Zune logo screen with a white bar across the bottom on the display. I let it sit there like this for 2 hours today until it ran out of battery, and when I got back to my hotel room and put it on my laptop all that happened was that I got the same logo and bar back. The laptop doesn’t ‘see’ the device, and nothing I’ve been able to find has helped. I’ve tried to turn it off using the ‘hold left button and down on the thumb pad’ thingy for 20 seconds (several minutes actually) with no effect. Same with the ‘hold left button and up on the thumb pad’ which supposedly resets the device to factor default. I can’t figure out any way to get the case apart (I was thinking maybe disconnecting the battery for a hard reset might do something) and I don’t want to break it if I can help it. It’s not under any sort of SLA or warranty anymore AFAIK, so if it’s dead I’m sort of screwed…certainly on this trip (this is my main audio book device so going to really miss it on the flights and in my room at night).
I’ve tried the press and hold the back and up (on the pad) at the same time…same with the press and hold the back and down (on the pad) at the same time. It doesn’t seem to do anything at all.
The top is in the unlocked position. But it does look like it’s frozen in the middle of a reboot…I get the Zune logo and the white bar and it looks like it’s almost all the way across. I let the battery discharge last night and powered it up again this morning but it’s doing the same thing.
