OK, so I’m a tad goofy anyway, but this stuff is exacerbating my goofiness. Hmmm… is “goofiness” a word, and did I misspell it? For that matter, did I use “exacerbating” properly?
Anyway… I’ve researched the drug, and I understand that it builds up in one’s system. I’ve been taking it since Sunday (my quit date is a week from today), and I’ve felt pangs of goofiness all week, but nothing like this! Heck, two hours ago, I got on the highway and immediately exited, because I didn’t feel competent behind the wheel. (I even closed the garage door ON my car when I got home.)
Has anybody here experienced anything like this? And, yes, I will speak with my doctor tomorrow.
I found Zyban to work much the same! I was giddy or just plain old dopey 90% of the time when on it. I almost wish to go back on it again just for that general contentedness feeling!
Well, you’ll need to start smoking, become depressed, or pretend that you’re a smoker or depressed. Of course, if you’re already a smoker and/or depressed, your doctor might prescribe it for you.
Zyban AKA Wellbutrin was originally used to treat depression. It became apparent that people who took it found that it helped them quit smoking.
I’ve discovered that it causes goofiness and truly does impair my driving abilities. After next Friday, I’ll let you know if it helps with the smoking. By the way, I’m a terrible addict, but not the least bit depressed.
…well, actually, it was Wellbutrin. The military doctors determined the correct dosage to use to simulate Zyban (it’s exactly the same chemical, but a different dosage) and that’s what we used. Quitting wasn’t easy, but I never noticed any side effects at all. I suppose it affects different people differently.
Of course, I could use some more. Shortly after TW left, I resumed smoking. I think I’m ready to quit again (for good, this time). I suppose I ought to see if the VA will spring for a Zyban-assisted quit-smoking program?
