Why the hell is Ann Coulter hosting Crossfire?
Did anyone else see the fatal train wreck that was Crossfire last night? Oh… my… god… no – there is no god! Not in any world where I have to listen to that screaming harpie prat on about liberal this and liberal that, her head bobbing like some boneless chicken about to peck Begala’s eye out. Oh – Begala looked pissed! Like who is CNN to pair me, an actual reporter and campaign advisor with this banshee reject! Paul looked at her like you might look at a particularly nasty strain of cobra – wearing a miniskirt.
And her interview ‘questions’ – were there any? For those of you who missed it, a synopsis of her interview technique: Bwak bwak bwak bwak bwak!!! Well, Ann, I’d say once again you’ve gotten all your facts wrong, the truth BWAK!! Bwak bwak!!Ann, againBwak bwak bwak!!! If you’d quit interrupting me bwak bwak bwak bwakbwakbwak!! Criminy! I’d rather be stuffed into a room full of mosquitoes while naked and bleeding from my anus than listen to her prattle. As the next host, I’d rather see a addleplated and moldy Ronald Reagan, mumbling about how Bonzo would solve the Middle East. I’d rather hear a room full of mosquitoes, now full of my corpuscles buzz into a microphone! With feedback! If we’re going to get bobble-headed, Aryan slut-commentators on the right, I want Michael Moore on the left! – No, I want Noam Chomsky! – and no namby-pamby guests to kerfluffle us with information. I want a switchblade street fight! Than I’d be able to watch the whole show instead of switching every five seconds. Blargh! CNN, what were you thinking, hiring a nutty, slutty, liar for your show?!? Here’s the full carnage: http://www.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0208/05/cf.00.html |

It's just more evidence of the pervasiveness of the Vast Liberal Media. Obviously the Powers That Be would like everyone to believe that conservatives are a bunch of psychotic, reactionary idiots, incapable of intelligent debate.

"Slutty?"
Waitaminute...aren't all conservatives s'posed to be uptight, overly-moralistic prudes? (I would pay to see her put a street-fight beat-down on Noam Chomsky, though. )

Coulter was on last night 8/5, 7pm EST on CNN. I can only hope they've got someone intelligent and attractive tonight, like a decomposing Richard Nixon.

No, no, apotheosis!! Ok, you're half-right. I'll give you the overly-moralistic part, but I still say they're slutty.
Yeah, that's it, slutty moralists, like Newt Gingrich.

Since Crossfire seems to consist mainly of posturing ideologues barking half-truths and insults at each other, I can't think of a better place for Ms. Coulter to spend her time.

Reading the transcript, it hit me! Here is the NEXT BIG THING!!
Team Ann Coulter up with Anna Nichole Whats-her-name in a action-packed buddie-cop/Cagney & Lacey kinda real-life comedy/drama!! And the crowd goes wild!!!! ______________ Well, Shit on a Trisket and call it whore-de-ovarys! |

I thought Anna Nichole Whos-yer-hooters was a lesbian...(?)
Put those two together, and you're more likely to get a matter/antimatter reaction than a cop drama. |

Oh darn. I love Ann Coulter. Why do I find out too late. Post these things sooner.
And I doubt Anna Nicole could carry on a conversation much less memorize lines. I saw her on Howard Stern. She was either stoned or having trouble with the concept of breathing. Dumb blonde would be a compliment. |

I saw that show last night. What a disaster. She was one of the worst hosts I've ever seen. That smug look of hers works a little better when you're on the defensive, but it looks just awful when you use it on your own guests. I suspect she won't last long.
If they want to get a much more interesting conservative, they should put Jonah Goldberg of the National Review on there. He's a young smartass something like a cross between Tucker Carlson and P.J. O'Rourke. |

Bunch of liberals who won't even listen to a conservative here. What is "bwak"? A chicken sound? Were her arguments so persuasive that you couldn't stand to listen to them?
The fact of the matter is that Ann Coulter brilliantly articulates the prinicpled ideology of the conservative movement in this country and is feared and reviled because she is its most effective spokesperson. Her utter disdain for the lack of moral clarity of liberalism comes through loud and clear and does not split hairs. Neither does Annie have split ends. I'm sorry I missed it. She is sexier than Jeanne Kirkpatrick or Margaret Thatcher. |

Taggert, I don't think shouting and name-calling is "brilliantly articulate". I agree that her utter disdain comes through "loud and clear"--that tends to happen when you yell at people all the time.
Please don't try and say "the fact of the matter". What everyone, both conservative and liberal, thinks about Ann Coulter is 100% subjective. I think you'll find that there are even conservatives that are tired of her shtick, because like the extremists on any side of any debate, she draws attention away from rational people capable for forming coherent thought. Prime example--she says the kid burning his shoe on the plane is the liberals' fault and uses it as justification for going to war with Iraq. Please tell me how that "brilliantly articulates the principled ideology of the conservative movement". |

taggert, there can be a fine line between parody and trolling, and I think you've crossed it. While this may have started out as witty comments about conservative thought, for the past month or so you have essentially been endorsing extreme positions you do not agree with in order to get a reaction: the very definition of troll. A whoosh once in a while is no big deal, but when you *never* break character it becomes a lot more like a concerted effort to troll. Don't you think you've had enough fun testing everyone's Satiro-detector for subtle nuance differentiation, and are ready to play it straight for a while? [Administrator Hat OFF] |

Why is CNN putting her on?
The Daily Howler along with many other points out clearly she is a liar. Her book asserts many times how 'if you do a nexus search you will find' then if you actually do that search you will not find what she says or you will find she is distorting the the facts. How could CNN give her time on the air at all? |

Zebra, I have no idea.
Why CNN would want to host a show with that lying, unlistenable harpie is beyond me. My two theories; 1) CNN has fully bought into the 'liberal bias' charges of her book 'Slander' and is wrongly attempting to compensate. 2) CNN is laughing at her charges and puts her on the screen to say "Holy shit, look at this nutcase." Personally, I've seen far, far too much of this nutcase already, thank you very much. Hey, has anyone noticed that the sobriquet tossed at David Brock (he's lying, he's a slut, he's not to be trusted, I found a typo in footnote 12128, etc.) actually apply to Ann, not David?! It's more evidence for my Conservative Projection Theory. Have ya heard of that one? |

I think taggert is genius. Were it up to me (which it isn't! it isn't!), I would allow taggert an exemption from the sock ban, so that new suckers could be lured in to his web without them recognizing his name.
Taggert, sorry the admins seem to think you've run across some line. Whether it be liberals attacking your ridiculously exaggerated positions, or conservatives agreeing with your ridiculously exaggerated positions, your posts make me smile to see the absurdity of American political debate. Did you read the op-ed peice where the guy called for getting islamic respect by smashing them to bits? Hell, it's hard to tell what would constitute an exaggeration of conservative opinion anymore. But here are some clues for Elwood SPOILER:

Crossfire must be trying to find the most reprehensible, untrustworthy and irksome people to represent the two ends of the political spectrum. Tonight they have Michael Moore on.

The first thing that popped into my head upon reading the thread title was that she must have bit Tucker Carlson's head off while mating with him.
She's going to be on C-SPAN Booknotes with Brian Lamb this weekend. Let's see if she does her "screaming harpie" routine with a man whose interview style intentionally borders on catatonic. Lamb: Who did you dedicate the book to, and why? Coulter: This is just more of the typical liberal control of the media and it's conspiracy to supress conservatives. And you're a major part of it, Brian, by actually being in the room with me, and daring to ask me questions instead of letting me say whatever I want for the whole time. How dare you try to obscure the truth by asking me a misleading question like that! You're trying to cloud the issue by breathing the same air that I am, thereby, denying me access to the precious oxygen that I need to foam at the mouth and plug my book. The New York Times is trying to supress me by listing other books on the best-seller list besides mine! Sure they put mine first, but that's so they could hide behind their claims of objectivity! Ha! Sales figures? I have footnotes in my book that clearly show that my book is selling much more than the amount that the prejudiced liberal bookstores are willing to admit to. We should attack Iraq immediately since my book is not for sale there....... |

A termagant is an agant that is employed for a specific period of time; as in term life, term limit My folks paid about $12,000 so I would know stuff like that.
As to the dreaded Ms. Coulter: there are a set number of possibilities. First, the Conservative movement is so utterly bereft and bankrupt, they are getting down to choosing between the Hooded Coulter or G. Gord. As cheery as this bright prospect may be, it is unlikely. The first-string pundits from the Dark Side make too much money to bother with such. For instance, why not P.J. O'Rourke? Because he hauls away skads of bucks, why should he? For myself, I read his books every time, he is witty as well as sharp witted. If only he wasn't quite so fixated on telling me how he used to be a hippy and now he drinks too much. And finally, its like Wing-nut Star Search, they try folks out from time to time, hoping somebody will hit a spark and CNN will make a couple of bucks. The race is not always to the swift, but thats the way to bet 'em, and my money is on the last. Personally, I can dig it. Its been too long since the Right has been represented by the likes of a Newt Gangrene; that is, a repugnantly self righteous kamikaze-buffoon. I'd love to see her paired with Jim-Boy Carville, except I'm afraid he will punch her lights out, and I wont get it on tape.
