Dental semi-emergency help sought (re: dental adhesive)

One of my top front teeth was knocked out years ago. The dentist fit me with a cap.

A few days ago the false tooth (and post) broke at the gumline.

I have an appointment to see an implant specialist in a couple of weeks, but meanwhile I'm missing one of my front teeth -- not exactly an unnoticeable flaw. I want to temporarily glue the false tooth back in so I don't appear so dreadful in public. (And I'm okay with regluing it every day until the appointment.)

I tried a storebought dental adhesive (basically a mix-it-yourself combination of zinc oxide + eugenol) which is an utter joke. This stuff is barely more adhesive than toothpaste!

Is there something better out there? (Yes, several websites caution against using household glues, but boy those tubes of JB Weld are looking mighty tempting!)

Just describing the situation: there is a small, rough contact point at the gumline where the false tooth/post broke from the root; the false tooth fits snugly between the real teeth on both sides. So that's three points of contact I've got to work with.

Thanks all in advance!

I think you might have a risk of swallowing your tooth with the fixes you describe, maybe you could glue it to a backing piece of soft plastic and then use Poligrip to glue it to the back of surrounding teeth. I once had a single false tooth made, only took 1 day for it, cost about 150 bucks as I recall.

Don't try to glue the tooth yourself. The risk of swallowing it is too great. Call your dentist and ask about splinting the broken crown. The procedure takes about a half hour to do.
