Okay, I’ve never opened one of these before, but since a very good friend of mine just started posting on the SDMB, I wanted to welcome her and all of the other newbies who’ve just started here. I know there are at least two others - although their names are escaping me and I can’t remember what thread I saw them in - and I’m sure there are more. Since it’s hard enough to keep names straight around here, it might be easier if you folks just check in and say hi:), and for all the older Dopers to get to know you (and welcome you!)
And yes, I wanted to give a special welcome to one of my best friends who’s decided to post here - she’s my Canadian friend that I went to visit this weekend - and who I nearly didn’t get to see because of American Airlines - Special Agent Jazz. She’ll probably kill me for singling her out:D , but I’m glad she’s here!
Thanks for the welcome. This is my 3rd day here, and I think this place is, to quote the kids, “da bomb” (or is that expression out, already? Whadda I know - I don’t have kids.) There’s so much here I feel like I can never get to it all - especially with the speed of the site - sorry to grouse, I know it’s free for me, I shouldn’t complain, but I just get frustrated sometimes when it takes so long to open something or to post.
I hope my tendency toward run-on sentences and parenthetical phrases doesn’t wear out my welcome.
[sub]No one had a party for me when I was new – effin’ candy-ass newbies, I had to walk barefoot through the snow, uphill both ways, when I made my first few posts.[/sub]
Aww, twickster, I had to clean the shoes of every Doper in the Pit after I made MY first thread. You ever cleaned Coldfire’s shoes? I don’t recommend it without a gas mask.
Watch out for that avabeth. They calculated grades weirdly in her school, so she might not be as smart as she looks. Or maybe smarter. Or maybe it’s me. Maybe I’m not as smart as she looks.
Just got here myself. Thanks for the warm welcome. Been lurking a while and (at my wife’s coaxing) decided to register and get involved in some things. Been reading SD off and on for years, mostly after a search sent me there. Trivia and odd stuff mostly. Looks like the popularity of the SDMB means others have similar tastes.
