The Chrysler PT Cruiser. What were they thinking of? There’s one in my work car park and it hurts my eyes every time I walk past. It looks like a London cab that’s swallowed a hearse. Ug-leee. Ugly.
Any other nominations, or is this definitely the ugliest car of all time?
The Aztec, also known as the “Ass-tec”, or the Hummer H2 (“Let’s pay $50,000 for a vehicle that isn’t any better than a Yukon, rather than $80,000, and get a vehicle we actually can use in any off-road situation”).
Bippy, I’d forgotten about them. Still think the Cruiser wins though - it’s not even ungly and cute, it’s just ugly with a face like a teenager wearing braces.
The back end of the new-style Renault Mégane is fairly nasty, too.
Thank you! I think of a hearse everytime I see one of those ugly cars. I suppose if someone has always wanted to drive a hearse, the PT Cruiser is the perfect car for them.
I’ve always found Saturns to be ugly cars too, although some of the newer models are looking better. Except for the Saturn Vue - looks like a chunk of plastic.
Ethlrist beat me, so add me down for the Aztec. I don’t know how that hideous thing made it to production. The front looks like two cars stacked one on top of the other.
The odd thing about PT Cruisers is that everyone I see is apparently a “Limited Edition” model, which leads me to believe that the standard edition is somehow the rare one. I don’t like the PTs, but it seems to be hard to do retro-styling without it looking a joke.
I like the Honda Element, but only because it reminds me of a rolling gendarme hat.
The Aztek is like nothing so much as the Family Truckster from Vacation.
As for the Wartburg, that’s the kind of ugly I like. Boxy little eurocars are cool.
I’m an artist. A few years ago I was in the market for a new car. So I went to the car show with a tape measurer, to see which car would best accommodate my paintings. The winner turned out to be the PT Cruiser; almost all of my paintings would fit in the back with the back seat down (it can also be removed). The only other option would be an SUV, which would have been totally wrong for me, for many reasons.
So I’ve had my PT Cruiser for 3 years now, and my paintings are very happy riding safely in the back. My only regret is that I bought it before the Turbo came out.
You have to admit, though, he found a pretty close match with that Transformer
Actually, the picture you linked to didn’t look ugly, so I guess he just picked a bad one. What’s with all the rubber? Is it for designed for blind people with small garages?
