The next Philly Doper Dinner will be at Fez, 620 South 2nd Street. We’ve been having some nicely attended dinners in the suburbs, so it’s time we came back into the city.
Moroccan food is exotically good, and Fez has belly dancers on Friday and Saturday nights. Which are also good nights to draw the out-of-town crowd.
I suggest we go on November 5 or 6. That’ll be after the New York Mega DopeFest and all the Halloween parties.
Will you guys at least attempt to act like mature adults?
I’ll come – just don’t embarrass me, 'kay?
At this point, I have no preference between Friday and Saturday – but I think the last time we discussed this, Friday seemed more apt to get both the weekday preferrers and the weekend preferrers.
Okay – looks like I might be bringing two people – InDisGuize, who’s a mostly a lurker hereabouts, and another friend of mine who I can’t even persuade to lurk. Both definitely Doper material though!
I swapped a couple of emails with davidm the other day, and he wasn’t sure whether he’d be in the mood or not – if you’re worried about being the only person there feeling bummed about the week’s events, don’t be – I can vouch for my entire posse.
One member of said posse thought he might be a trifle late – I told him to ask for the Cecil Adams party if he is. Speaking of which – do we need a reservation? Will you take care of that, if so, Scuba_Ben?
If DavidM shows up, that makes us seven people. I’ll call in the reservation this evening, for 7 PM tomorrow. It will be under the name “Cecil Adams,” as is usual for Dopefests.
I just called the restaurant. They were pretty insistent about their 6 PM seating time, but I talked them into 6:30. I made the reservation for 7 people.
According to the web site, it’s a prix fixe menu, much like the other Moroccan restaurants I’ve been to in the area. That means seven or eight courses of delicious food, plus the dancing girls. Please arrive on time, and ask for the Cecil Adams party; you don’t want to miss the salad course or the chicken pastry course.
