People are stupid, selfish, ignorant, annoying, greedy, careless, mean, moronic, evil, self-serving, self-righteous, self-centred, dumb, spiteful, oblivious, closed-minded, short-sighted, boring, lying, obtuse, dishonest, daft, immoral, petty, pathetic, tiresome, pointless, difficult, deceitful, hypocritical, egotistical pieces of shit, and I fucking hate them.
Did you forget a “some”?
For the record, I think you’re great.
While I agree with you, Priceguy, I also think that you and have been guilty of every single one of your stated fallabilities at one point in our lives or another. Nobody’s perfect.
Adam
So?
You’d think so, wouldn’t you?
Right back at you.
Make that “…that you and I have been…”
:smack:
The fact that you’re great is a lesson I’ve learned lately. Don’t give up, Priceguy. You never know what’s around the corner.
You omitted some of our other traits: loving, caring, compassionate, suffering, guilty, creative, concerned, sympathetic, sweet, generous, selfless, giving, supportive, grieving, nurturing, friendly, informative, gracious, attractive, educational, helpful, sexy, inspiring, artistic, resourceful, brave, appreciative, open, honest, smart, forgiving.
You say half-empty; I say half-full. The difference? Happiness, or not…
I suggest you get down off your high horse and recognize that there is good in all of us…and probably moreso than bad. And then, once you no longer have your perch from which to try to bolster your own self-esteem by looking down on everyone else, maybe you will be able to see that. And if so, you will be happier and your life will be richer.
So come on! Jump in…the water’s fine!
(Just watch your step.)
Starving Artist, I never thought I’d see you come in and shit all over someone’s Pit OP. I’ve given up hope. People are worthless. I just hope my Pugs don’t discover I’m one of them.
There are many humans that I think quite highly of.
But, like you, there are times when I must remind myself of this…
For the record, I have demonstrated all of the attributes you listed, at one time or another. On this very day, even…
Yes. Yes they are.
While the optimistic part of me would like to say all of the could things that people can be, the rest of me works in customer service  I can’t stand people anymore either.
Welcome to my world. Although, I don’t use the “anymore”.
Whenever I see want ads that say, “Do You Like Working with the Public?,” I think, “ewww, no—the public is full of people.”
Yeah, but, you gotta have people to have any of the real good sex. This catcher will put up with a lot for a good pitcher.
Yeah. Take people for sex. For the rest, take a pet.
Is it a Dutch thing to sleep with a pet? Do you kick your lover out of bed first, or do you make it a menagerie a trois?
“I love mankind - it’s people I can’t stand!” – Linus Van Pelt.
Yep, people come with a panoply of unlovely virtues. Virtues, I say, because you are merely describing human characteristics by their ugly extremes. Without short-sightedness, where is spontaneity? Without egotism, where ambition? Without greed, there goes industry. If we lost our willingness to deceive and be deceived, we should surely lose art besides. Self-righteousness is the ingrown toenail of righteousness, but still part of the same body. Throw it and spitefulness away, and you’ll find that they were attached to your sense of justice. Without hypocrisy, we could not practice for the virtues we do not yet own. Like the daft, dumb, pointless quality of hope. Or the careless, annoying oblivion of romantic love.
I am sorry, Priceguy. You are clearly in pain, and I can’t help you. But I insist that all the qualities you see in us are simply the wrong end of our humanity. Come round the other side when you can, and I promise you’ll see the rest of us.
I’s never realized before how versatile carbon could be.
Have you considered opening up a barber/ meat pie shop?
Sorry to hear you’re having a rough time, but it will get better. Yes people suck, but there are good people, too.
