It's interesting when your kids start getting as big as you

My 14 year old just went in for his physical required to play JV lacrosse. He's apparently grown 4 inches in the last 6 months as he's now at just over 6 feet, and put on 30 lbs to weigh 160, and wears a size 12 shoe.

This does stop at some point doesn't it? I'm 6' 2" and I don't recall being that tall at his age. I think I'll give im some of my old clothes (nicely wrapped) for his birthday in September. Fury and hilarity will ensue.

I have a 14 year old brother who's a pretty big kid. Almost 6 ft, very husky build, and a size 14 shoe. Aparently he was looking for something spiffy to wear to his school film festival last night. They're doing a red carpet and everything and Mom suggested he try on Dad's tux. If fit him perfectly.

My dad took my outgrowing him quietly hard. I noticed a rise in his defensiveness towards any misbehavior or 'insubordinate' behavior. I don't know if he even realized it, but and a few others did.

Mom had to endure my outgrowing her when I was a bit younger and she just jokingly reminded me that she could wag a finger up as well as down.

I'm not a particularly tall person (5'5"), but my mom's only 5'1", so it wasn't particularly impressive that I outgrew her. She is pretty defensive about this. Still. Even though I'm 26 and outgrew her when I was twelve.

Now, if I outgrew my dad, that would be something. It's much more likely I'd be a professional basketball player, for starters. My dad is 6'3".

The good news is, yes, eventually, he stops growing.

The bad news is, that's right around when you'll start shrinking.

My older boys are both bigger than me...no surprise, because I'm short, but still. One of them is 6'2" and the other is one is rapidly catching up. And the younger of the two wears a size FOURTEEN shoes. And I'm not entirely sure they're finished growing yet.
The nerve of kids.

I dunno. My 13 y/o boy is now 5'8" and 140. I am 5'7". We are literally eye to eye and I'm starting to look upwards. He is in a 12 shoe, bigger than my hubby's (11 and 5'9").

It's disconcerting, to say the least.

I do wish that my daughter had grown taller--I always liked my height--but she is 5'3". The youngest? Who knows? He's only 6........

I'm 6'1" and weigh 230, shoe size 11. My 13 y/o is 5'9" weighs a solid 170 and plays fullback/DE on Oakland Rec football team, shoe size 10. The 11 y/o Stuffy2 is 5'6" weighs 120, size 7 shoes. The 9 y/o is actually small compared to his brothers 4'10". Compare to my wife at 5'2" and a perfect size 6. One day my 9 y/o accidentally put on a pair of her jeans and they fit.

Geez, he's the "little one"? He's two inches taller than I was when I started high school. (I'm female, but still...a kid five years younger being taller than I was, yikes) I'm happy that I'm now 5'3" but it took until I was almost 17 to get there, and my brother grew slowly as well, since he didn't get taller than me until he was in high school.

Ah well, you can just make them get things off of shelves for you at a younger age, I guess

My boy's just turned twelve and is around 5'2" so it's rather neat that he can reach higher shelves in the kitchen and such. I'm 5'9" and I know he'll pass me up eventually, it's funny right now to see him showing off reaching things that Grandma can't reach when she visits.

My best friend's daughter is already my heighth and she's only 12. Add in the clunky shoes that are fashionable and I'm constantly having to look up to her, that's weirding me out. I guess I just didn't expect to be passed up yet, being the tallest girl in my family and all. I also sorta worry for her, if she's already 5'9" and 160 and wearing a size 11 shoe at twelve, how much more will she grow, will she be able to even find shoes and jeans easily, that sorta stuff.

I'm 6'1" and 240 pounds. Of me, my younger brother, and my dad, I'm easily the smallest.

My 14 year-old is exactly as tall as me, his mother. He swears up and down he's taller than me, but we both know he's not. This kills him. I'm sure another month or two and he will be, which is just freaky.

But what really kills me is when I see the black, curly hairs on his legs-

How did this happen? I don't remember giving them permission to grow up.

My 1st grader comes up to my nipples, and I'm 6'1"...

I'm going to have to learn one of those leverage-based martial arts to keep him in line!
