Dope The Halls V - MADs take note

It’s that time again!

For those of you new to the Mid-Atlantic Area, Weirddave and I do a Christmas/Hanukkah/Seasonal Winter Holiday party every December. We make a turkey and trimmings and provide places to plop your butts while socializing with the rest of the MADs. We only ask that you come bearing a side dish, beer, whatever to share. We start at 2:00 and go til whenever we get tired of everyone or everyone gets tired of us.

This year, we’re thinking December 10 or 17. We’ll pin it down a little later, depending on who of you has what scheduled when.

We live in Dundalk, in the county. Just 1.75 miles from 95, and not that much further from the beltway. Easy to get to! There are usually carpools from points distant, and I’ll provide exacting directions as usual.

So, who’s in?

The 17th is out for me, and a couple of Penna. Dopers, I think – but the 10th would work for me.

Esp. if you get trunk there so we can talk movies.

I will alert supervenusfreak so we can see if we can work out our schedules to get one of those weekends free. He may not be able to, considering that he already has to ask two weekends for holiday family stuff (we go up to see my mom in Altoona the weekends after Thanksgiving and Christmas).

I’m in. Right now I’m in “work every weekend” mode (****), but with any luck that’ll be slowing down by then. Either weekend should be fine.

Oh, and I’ll bring carrot cake, because I know danceswithcats has decided that I’m totally bsing on my mad carrot cake skilz.

The 17th is right out for me. I have a legitimate reason, though.

We’ll see about the 10th, though. Fortunately, my finals are all Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, so it’s not like I won’t have plenty of study time. Not to mention the fact that I really only have finals in two classes.

Pencil in me and the sprog. Not sure what I’ll bring; perhaps paper goods or soda or something.

Robin

Uh-huh. :dubious: Heard that-un before. I’d also prefer the 10th to the 17th.

Don’t forget the other list.

Done.

Thanks, Gingy. You’re the mostest! I hope Dave is feeling better this year than he did for IV.

The 10th works better for me as well.

I will volunteer to drive the Bozo Bus for NoVa Dopers who need a ride. Anyone interested should email me at anitavacation at gmail dot com to coordinate logistics.

[sub]I wonder if our newest returning MAD, Esprix, will make an appearance.[/sub]

Man everything has to happen that weekend, the 10th, doesn’t it? I’m not sure if Iris and I will be able to make it that weekend. We might be able to stop by for a bit, but it would have to be early.

. . .and crosswords.

Unfortunately, it looks like we’re opposite.

10th is probably out for me.

Rides also available from Philly (**Cleophus, Doc Cathode[/b); email me at twickster47 at yahoo dot com.

Damn! :frowning:

All my Saturday evenings are booked for the month of December. Just tell Dave it’s a black thing and he wouldn’t understand anyway.

You guys have fun. I’m a wee bit bummed as I was looking forward to meeting twickster and Trunk and supplying Anita Vacation with some more apple sauce cake.

Count me in. Now that I’m a full-fledged MAD, the trip is half as long as it used to be.

Looking like it’ll be the 10th. So far.

Philcon (major science fiction convention) is that weekend – depending on what’s going on there Saturday, I may hit that for a while first and come down more eveningish.

I can tentatively say we could make either, but all bets are off if the chosen date coincides with FCD’s work holiday party. Since it’s his first year there, he feels obligated to participate if they have one. So I’ll hafta say we’re a definite maybe.

I would love to come if it’s on the 17th, but the 10th is the littlest one’s 4th birthday and we already have reservations for Medieval Times that evening. We had planned on spending the day in Southern MD with my folks and going to Arundel Mills for dinner and a show on our way back home. :frowning: Well I’ll keep an eye on the thread in case the date changes.
