Photo assignment: take these pictures by Jan 1, then let

I’m no photographer, I’m just like everyone else who has a digital camera and likes to take pictures. Wanna take some along with me? Here’s the assignment –

[ul]Take a picture of something very close up that you don’t normally look at close up (use Macro or “flower” mode)

[li]Take a picture of a building you pass on your way to work[/li]
[li]Take a picture of something from an odd perspective. [/li][/ul]

Due by January 1st. If you can host your own pictures, great! If not, just use a service like www.imageshack.us Post the links here.

Anyone want to play along?

Whoops! The title should be

“…then let’s compare!”

Well, I’ve had the second one posted for awhile now…

Sure, I’m in*. It’ll be a couple days before I get anything posted though.

Slee

I got a new fancy dancy 8 meg camera for my birthday but haven’t really had a chance to play with it yet.

Cool! No need to wait until the deadline, or to post all three at once. Post as you go!

I’ve got a couple good ideas for the weird perpective one.

Yeah, sure, I’m in.

Well to start things off, here’s my first submission. Taken with my crappy pocket-sized Canon.

In case you can’t figure out what it is, it’s a view down the front of my fridge from the top. Weird perspectives are cool!

Well, take a look at this, and see if you can figure it out.

Is that an IR shot of a flower?

I’m in, will post when I’ve got all 3 pics

Close. I took this macro of an orchid, but forgot to turn on the flash. The pic came out almost completely dark. When I hit “autoexposure”, the image came out as you see it. It’s an interesting effect, and many actually thought it was a photo of flamenco dancers. Browse the rest of the gallery for more of my photos, if interested.

Okay, here are mine.

I love taking macros; my favorite so far is the one I took of this leaf.

I scrounged up this old, bad photo of a post office I usually pass on my way to work. I’ve got no idea why I took that one in the first place, but there you go.

And for the weird perspective one, here’s this one of my brother playing guitar. (I’m too lazy to upload the original… )

Cool!

Lint from laundry dryer

Lipstick Building and its neighbor

Snowdrift against wall
Canon PowerShot S70; pix reduced to approx 1152 x 870

I’m gonna need a nicer digital camera

Don’t expect this kinda quality when I get mine done…

Sounds like fun. I’ll see what I can get up by tomorrow.

Hijack time!

Hey, are those sign language magnets you’ve got on your fridge? Where’d you get them? (We’re teaching WhyBaby Baby Sign, and they’d be useful for us old folks to study.)

Just finished taking the last of my three:

The Macro – the bottom of my credit card

The Building – the local courthouse

The weird perspective – looking down the fridge
I love all the pictures posted already. If we get a good response, I’ll post another assignment.

Hal, what software did you use to create those pages? Or is it hand coded?

The second one will be kind of hard for me. Not that many buildings between my place and work, and I am not going to work right now anyway.

I don’t know what Anapamu is, but isn’t that the Santa Barbara courthouse?

Sure is! Anapamu is a street in S.B.

The Griswold’s house across the street.
