OK, so I decided I’d just go ahead and start a new photo assignment since there seems to be enough interest in this thread.

I’ll post mine tomorrow.
I’ve been wanting to buy a camera, but feel guilty about buying a toy as money is a bit tight. But this is an assignment! I have to do it, right? Plus the photos in the previous thread where great fun to see. I’m in… get ready for some truely bad shots from a beginner.
This one I will be able to participate in, since I already have 3 of these 4 shots in my collection. I tried several times for really good macro and perspective shots but none turned out worth sharing.
Item 1: Painted by a friend, hanging on the kitchen wall Item 2: Say hello to the neighbours Item 3: I almost hate to admit it, but this is definitely my favourite posession. A recent birthday gift from two very dear friends. Item 4: The autographed set-list of a band I went to see recently. Score!!! (Actually, I went to see them twice. And yes, its hanging on my bedroom wall. Please try to laugh WITH me, not AT me.)
I’m game - but will take my time taking new shots for this. I expect my Photographer’s Choice will be more IR, though - that ozone hole sure makes for great IR photos, I guess
A Kitchen Item This one highlights (to me) my need to get some external flashes so that I can light the scene properly without flash spots on the subject. I’m in the market for a soft box, so if anyone can recommend one…
View from my front door Now, in the interest of honesty, I took this one a while ago, but it’s my favorite picture of all the ones I’ve taken from my front door (I live on the fourth floor).
My favorite posession It really is. I have a lot of gadgets and gizmos and toys, but if I had to give away all but one, this is the one that would stay. This picture was a challenge to take - I only had one hand mirror in the house, and it was a magnifying makeup mirror at that. Plus getting the lighting right so that I didn’t have to fire the flash, getting the focus the way I liked it… it was tough. But I like the result (I flipped the image in Photoshop so that it wasn’t backwards, but I probably should have left it alone.)
Photographer’s Choice I love photography in general, and am working to improve my abilities, but what I find myself enjoying the most (and possibly best at) is flower portaiture. This is one of my favorite pictures, though not one of my best.
We decided to have a shrimp and crab boil on New Years day. My brother who used to live in New Orleans told me that the Cajuns always take a picture of the food spread out before they eat it; so we did to.
My wife gave me this Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT for our anniversary in November. She gave me the Canon Speedlite 550EX flash for Christmas. I tried for hours to have the camera take a picture of itself but I wasn’t happy the results so I took this one with my previous camera, a Canon Powershot S50.
OK, here we go. All but the second one were taken for this project.
Kitchen Object: my plump, juicy tomato-shaped cutting board.
View from my front door: first cloud bands from Hurricane Rita move into the area, 23 September 2005.
Favorite possession: I could have said any number of things, but I’ve aged to the point where I’ve got to give the nod to my spectacularly comfy Ikea sofa. Bit sad, innit?
Forgive the crappiness of these I took them in about five minutes cause I was bored.
Kitchen Picture A picture of the freezer. We like magnets I fuzzed out the numbers cause…yeah…that’s a smart move.
Outside Picture Here’s what it looks like from our back porch. Nice view During the Fourth of July you can see four seperate firework shows.
Favorite Thing This is a doll my dad got for me from Japan when I was little. He was in the Marines and travelled alot and always brought us back neat things. This remains my favorite!
My Choice Just for the hell of it, my two kittens, Rabi (left) and Kyo. I had to foster them when they were 4 weeks old and had to do ALOT of supportive care. Three different meds twice a day and twice daily subcutaneous fluids for little Rabi. They’re about 6 months old now and completely healthy!
