Will you still need me, Will you still feed me...

…when I’m 64?

Paul McCartney and wife split up.

Although the story doesn’t specifically mention it, McCartney will be 64 next month.

Wow - wouldn’t suprise me a bit if the kids are partly to blame. My (adult) stepkids are the biggest cause of friction in my marriage.

I don’t know why, but this made me really sad when I read about it this morning.

No, no. They blame the media for splitting them up, and have split amicably, according to the story I read. What a crock. Seriously, what do these celebrities think, “Well, our marriage is fine but the media says it isn’t, so let’s prove them right?” Sorry, the whole “It’s the media’s fault” for a marriage breakup is just eyeroll worthy to me.

Just to get it out of the way…

I blame Yoko.

I blame Ringo. Although Phil Spector’s overdubs on “The Long and Winding Road” didn’t help either.

DAMNIT Otto!!!

Isn’t she almost the same age as his kids?

Note to older me: don’t marry someone your child’s age. (just because you can, doesn’t mean you should).

I don’t feel sad–Paul has always struck me as the most egotistical of the Fab Four.

Well, in any case, he now has his answer to that question!

She’s several years younger than Paul’s stepdaughter (also named Heather), and only about a year older than his own oldest daughter, Mary.

Not only that, his eldest, also named Heather, (Linda’s daughter from her first marriage, Paul adopted her when she was maybe five at most), was two years older than Heather Mills.

I think he married Heather because he was missing Linda. They were one of my favorite celebrity couples. I also loved Linda McCartney.

Heather Mills struck me as a snob. Not only did she snub her designer step-daughter to-be when it came to designing her wedding gown, but then she tried to claim she designed it herself (it was a British firm, I think, Eavis and Brown?)

Eavis and Utthead, IIRC.

Not surprised they broke up; wish he hadn’t been foolish enough to marry her in the first place.

No doubt that a certain peglegged pirate will be a-carryin’ off a lot o booty from divorce court, arrrr.

**Otto **and Bosda, you two shame me! I had aspired to wit, once, but now…
In the release that I read, it’s really pretty amusing. Paul: “No, of course she didn’t marry a flabby, has-been-legend-who-didn’t-know-when-to-quit, rich man 25 years older than herself just for the money! How evil of people to think that!” Heather:“I don’t need Paul’s money…but, a woman has to look out for the future!”
Paul, the Fab Fathead, wouldn’t hear of a pre-nup. This is a classic case of his being a whipped desperate lonely sad old man being victimized by a younger woman. I bet that he thought that she wouldn’t leave him because of her leg. I would have thought that somebody that had been around as much as Sir Paul would have at least READ about this kind of thing. Didn’t he ever hang out with millionaires?
Bing Crosby had a woman thirty years younger than himself, and she stuck around without anybody blaming the kids.

Sad.

OTTO!!!
BOSDA!!!
Hail!

Paul McCartney is a has-been?

Remind me why this is important, and why I should fucking care?

I love the Beatles music. I have no interest, or business, in their private lives; nor should the rest of you. In other words; who fucking cares?

Let it be.

You don’t have any mysterious insight into their personal lives, nor should you. How would you like the world reporting and speculating on your own personal sex life? Shut up and leave these people alone.

Go read the National Inquirer; now.

I’m usually a bit more demure than this, but for fucks sake people “what business is it of yours?”

I hate to burst your bubble, but Paul McCartney has been a has-been since Wings broke up in the early 80’s.

Look, I’ve been known to put his stuff down a lot. I don’t like his post-Beatles lyrics and I can’t listen to much of his recent output. I just think that some people are immune to that particular charge, and ex-Beatles are at the top of that list. Paul was bigger than Jesus, and he too died and came back. Can’t be a hasbeen.

Perfect.

I knew it!! I started a thread just now about this in cafe Society (where I thought it belonged) and been upstaged by fatbaldguy.

Ah well. What got me was the reason, supposedly they couldn’t live a normal life with the media butting in. Well, Paul had a lot more media attention back when he was married to Linda. I guess its just irreconcilable differences.
