Join me in doing the dance of joy.

Last April, I got a great new job -- overseeing a start-up gardening magazine.

We just got the final, bound, this-is-what-they-look-like copies of the first issue, and it looks great.

Yay us!

Congratulations!

Now where can we get it? I don't think the mods would mind you mentioning the name. Ask first if you like, or just mail me.

(Let's see, what are some garden words to make cryptograms out of? )

Yay! Congratulations!

Now get it printed and distrubute it internationally, so we can snatch it up eagerly at newsstands, pool halls, and subway stations everywhere, and be able to say, "I know that person!"*

*Or, more accurately, "I chat with someone who may or may not be that person on the Internet."

This won't be sold on the newsstand, alas (actually "phew," since newsstand distribution is a major PITA) -- if you'd like info on subscribing, you can email me (address in profile).

But honest, mods -- this ain't about looking for subscribers, this is sheer, raw woo hoo!

Congrats twicks!

I take it you don't work for the place that puts out such magazines as Birds And Blooms. Neat little magazine. I know they publish several others too cause I keep getting copies of Bs and Bs along with the occasional other type magazine even though I've never subscribed to any magazine that company has ever published. Very philantrophic of 'em but how the heck do they ever make any money I wander.

Or maybe I have a stalker who works there...

Congratulations, Ms. Twixt! So much work goes into a magazine, and that new copy is a sweet accomplishment.

Definitely count me as a subscriber, and any other support you might need, in horticultural sisterhood.

Celebrate, and be proud of making it to final edition print!

Well done, twickster! I remember when you got that job--nice to know that things have come to fruition and you're pleased and proud of the product.

Although (gonna be selfish for a moment) I do miss the "Provide crossword clues for ___ " threads that you were posting last March.

Seriously, well done and congratulations!

Thanks, all!

Went out to dinner with a friend last night (a previously scheduled event, just coincidence that it was yesterday), so he was the first person other than a coworker to see it -- and he was wowed. As he should be.

Damn, this is so cool...

(And, Spoons, I do still occasionally come up with a word-play thread. I'll work on a new one just for you. )

Okay -- it's not only in my hot little hands -- it is in the mailboxes (an thence to the hot little hands) of people I've never met.

Got an email from a subscriber today -- my first feedback from someone other than a coworker or a friend, or other such person who'd heard about the project while we were working on it.

He liked it! He really liked it!

Yay you!

Glad to hear you're already getting positive feedback, that one unconnected person's opinion must have been so validating. My gardening dream involves asphalt and green paint, but if it has purty pictures on the cover I'm in!

Good on ya, twickster!

Uh, that didn't sound right. I didn't mean to imply it was "good on you," although I'm sure it is, not that I would know or anything. I actually was only offering my congratulations, certainly not making any assumptions, as it were.

Thanks to the earlier questions thread, I learned you were a woman, and I remembered that, so that's a miricle in it's self. I hope to hear how things are going in the future with your endeavor. I found that my lettuce lived until the temp hit single digits, without my cold frame. This year would have been a good one to raise it in the winter. I would have had it growing until a few weeks ago and be ready to grow and cut again in February I'm sure.

Ooh! Congrats!

Psst...can I interest you, in your new garden-journalist capacity, in yet another feature of my Dutch hometown Maastricht? Rock Garden "Ber Slangen" (named after the former owner).

This English garden site litsts the garden in the top-100 of interesting collectors- gardens world-wide. And within that top-100, this garden might wel be the tiniest one, and the most interesting one visually.
Over 400 species of plants are gathered in a space the size of an American living-room. The effect is that of a mountain landscape, perfect in perspective to the last detail.

I could make you some copy-right free pictures if you like!

Dang, that looks interesting! I actually may be coming to the Netherlands next spring -- not clear whether it would be for when the daffodils are in bloom, or the tulips (damn, I have a tough job) -- will put that on my list of places to check out.

And while you're on the way over, you can hit Ottawa for the Tulip Festival.

Maastricht, could you link to a few of those pics in this thread?

You know, I think this is VERY unfair that Dopers like Twickster so much just because she's nice and friendly and helpful and witty and smart and fun.

Why can't we embittered, nasty, disagreeable sumbitch trollish jerks get a little play once in a great while? I'm just saying....
