I hesitate to start this thread because every time I start an AI thread, it ends in tears. Not like last week’s thread which held a pretty lively conversation on what is too mean when it comes to judging. No, I mean ugliness that ends up in the Pit.

Thank God. When I originally became addicted to this show, I had no kids, a low-stress job, and as much time to devote to television as I wanted. Now I have two kids, one on the way, a job that sucks up most of what remaining free time I have, and it’s increasingly difficult to carve out four hours of weeknight time to sit and watch Idol. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I love the show, but four hours in one week is a bit much. Hell, these days I don’t even watch the results show. I just get the info off the Internet later.

I guess I’ll never make a good music judge, because I don’t see how the grapevine guy’s belting was “over the top” and “cabaret”, but the blues guy was a million percent wonderful when he’s doing essentially the same thing.
Sundance kicked ass. Simon was so impressed he forgot to say anything about his weight. What was that he said, “he just blew Taylor away?”
I just Wiki’d Roy Head. It says his son auditioned for American Idol. Dang, that was fast.
That’s the second “no” I’ve been surprised by.
I liked the cheerleader, too. I don’t know what their objection to him was, except they saw “cheerleader” on his form and automatically discounted him.

An odd night tonight. The bad auditions are just not that good. They aren’t carnival exhibits.
I liked the bin Laden/Jesus/Castro dude. Can’t wait to see him with a shave and a haircut.
I hope they don’t make that dude cut his hair or shave.

It’s about marketability, after all. Can’t really blame him for liking the hotties.
I like the bum guy - damn good. He will need to change his look a little bit, but I hope he keeps some of his original self. I’d hate to see him end up with a Clay Aiken haircut.
I guess they didn’t make Bo cut his hair, just gave him some conditioner.

A question about the montages they do - sometimes they’re showing the rejected people singing songs that weren’t shown in their audition. Are they letting them sing a half-dozen songs at the audition because they’re horrible, and keeping that for later?
