To Liberal: I'm not pitting you.. I'm just confused

This is NOT a pitting… but where to put it? I don’t fuck around in GD… the post started here
My position is that 9) NO, a person has no choice, I’m cannot lie, I don’t belive in the Bible… but perhaps there is some unknown “higher power”.

How do you feel about that?

I’m so confused…

Sorry, I accidently thumped “Enter”, WAY prematurely, and was forced to edit my post, posthaste.

I could be way off base, and have no dog in this fight, but it sounded to me like Liberal was accusing you of being the former prr.

ETA: In retrospect, I’m pretty sure I’m right.

Me!?!?!

Um. That post of Liberal’s was addressed to a new poster whose initials are QSS. Not the OP here.

Accusing Eleusis?

LOL

:smack: It may be time to turn in for the night.

Heavens no, not you Eleusis.

Whoever QSS is. Sorry, I just only read the thing you linked to. Didn’t catch who it was being addressed to.

I can accept that, olivesmarch4th. I’m not that guy.

But I actually DO respect Liberal, and I would appreciate his input on my OP.
edit: I get the feeling mods will take the “not enough vitriol” approach and shove this back to GD, and fair enough. I just wanted his answer to me personally, though, and I did not want to start an debate which has probably been answered several times.

No. Don’t back down you guys. I don’t care about Elusis’s 3600 posts or his 2002 join date. He’s clearly a sock.

 And I went, “Charter Member, huh? Wait, how does this work exactly…?” Too bad there’s not a "foot-in-mouth’’ icon.

I will add that my beautiful wife also asked me, when we started dating, about my religious convictions.

I replied, honestly, that I had been raised Christian.

Fast forward three years, I’m a “devout” atheist-leaning-agnositc, and she’s slightly pissed about it.

I say, yes, we can tell our child that “gramma is in heaven”, but I cannot fathom the idea of raising her “in church”.

I feel that organized religion does more harm than good.

Edit: well… make that five or six years…

It’s such a pity that people think that way. There are many faiths, many ways faith can be expressed. Yes, there are some bad pastors and some weird congregations and some very nasty people in some of the religions, but to say something like that is to use an excessively simplistic generalization to denigrate millions of people in one fell swoop.

I can agree with this sentiment.

However, my wife’s “pastor” (she was raised baptist, as was I) actually FUCKING TOLD HER THAT HER PARENTS WERE GOING TO HELL, because they merely dropped her off at church, but did not attend.

This, I think, contributes to her current state of fucked-upped-ness.
My mother took me to church maybe twice in my entire life, and she was rather pissed at my aunt who had me baptised without her consent.

One idiot. You going to think ill of millions of people because of one idiot?

I rather doubt that this one thing could cause that much trouble to one person.

It didn’t hurt you. Somebody sprinkled some water and said some words. It’s not like you glow in the dark or anything.

Eleusis, you might want to ask the Pit Mods to simply close this thread, then start a new thread that appears to be a bit more coherent.

Liberal’s point #9, (posted when he believed that Quentin S. Smith might be a sock of pseudotriton ruber ruber), asks whether a person is capable of choosing to have belief in a god rather than being compelled by one’s life experiences to believe or to fail to believe. (This is a direct reference to a statement claimed by pseudotriton ruber ruber and challenged by Liberal in an earleir thread.)

Using that as a starting point, as you did, just what question do you wish to ask Liberal or what question do you believe you have answered? It is really unclear from your OP and remains unclear in your subsequent posts.

Every other year, it seems lib talks a bunch of shit for a few months, posting 12 or 14 times a day, and then flames out, talks a bunch of juvenile shit, and leaves like a whiny little bitch.

I feel that, given your life experience, it is a perfectly reasonable position. Incidentally, I don’t believe in the Bible either.

Funny, how you mentioned the other day how you were so into “Him”, so you just have your own “god”? Serious question.
