Peach Iced Tea and Job Huntin’… The MMP

Ok, so I promised I would not get all TMIy with the MMP. Apparently there are certain people who feel it would offend their delicate sensibilities. As If! However, since I am a gentleman of my word, no TMIness shall find its way into this MMP OP.

As most of y’all know, I am amongst the unemployed at present. Thus I job hunt. I hate it. I know I will find a job to my liking and even if I decide to just take sump’n for the time being and continue to look it won’t be so bad. Heck, everybody’s done some type of work at one time or another that while not exciting paid the bills til a better prospect came along. I have before, so I know it won’t kill me. Now, that does not mean I’ll be askin’ folks if they want fries with that cause, I ain’t that desperate! Still, this job huntin’ stuff is no fun. I’m lookin’ around, finding things I think I’ll like or know I’m qualified for and apply. And wait. Last week I had three interviews. Nuttin’ exciting about any of ‘em but then again I could stand any one of ‘em. A couple of jobs I have applied for and would like to get, I’ve answered back additional info on they’ve asked for. Those I’m keepin’ my fingers crossed that I get interview calls. Still, I hate this. One of the great things though is the amount of support I have. I have good support from all the cool kids which is always nice, cause y’all are the bestest. I also have a wonderful network of friends and family who are keepin’ their eyes and ears open for prospects for me, which I really do appreciate. It will happen. I know it. This is just a kinda update on how that’s goin’ for me right now.

Peach iced tea is a wonderful thing! It is my latest addiction. It is made by Smucker’sTM of all things! Instant iced teas have never been a favorite of mine but dang this stuff is good! I found it at Big Lots (what? I only shop at the classiest stores.) and bought a can of it. I made a pitcher of it and after quaffing that first glass hightailed it back to the store to buy more. I now possess twelve cans of it, which is all they had. For those of you not in the know, Big Lots is this weird discount store that buys closeout stuff from other stores and sells it for cheap. One never knows what to expect when one goes there. It all depends on what’s come in that week and changes week to week, sometimes day to day. Anywho, I like goin’ there and lookin’ for stuff cause, well ya never know. I’ll probably never find this iced tea there again but for now I have a goodly supply. Of course knowin’ me, once I’m out I’ll lose my addiction for this and find another addiction to take its place.

Happy Monday Y’all!

I am doing an 'in the meantime' type job. And I, too, think Peach Iced Tea is mighty fine.

Great OP, 00Ursinus, and the lack of TMI is just right for this time in the morning. I've just arrived at my "in the meantime" job and I'm quite looking forward to the next three days 'cos my line manager is on holiday until Thursday. Not that it means I'll be spending all day on the Dope, of course...I's got lots to do. She's not left me a lot of stuff apart from a new web page she wants set up. So that's my project for, I dunno, maybe tomorrow. I've got other things to do today, like filling out an application for another job on campus.

Peach Iced Tea sounds good too, I think I could manage some of that if only I could find some over here!

I love closeout stores! Got some neat stuff in several of them, when I lived in Miami. They're like the mother of all dollar stores, with much more varied (and therefore interesting) stock.

There are some of them Over Here, but they're not officially closeout stores. They're stores that have had the "going out of business" sign for months, or even years, but which keep buying more inventory from places that are really going out of business. Their stock is limited to whatever they used to sell, though: if it was a furniture store you won't be buying umbrellas.

One of my favorite stores Back Home spent three years with the "going out of business" sign. It's really, really closed now; the bank office that's right across the street is moving there.

The sun is out! All weekend the sky was white, instead of its proper blue. This morning the mist was scary-thick. But now the sun has realized it's Monday and come out. I have to look up the weather forecast before I speak with Mom tonight; they'll be coming to Chocolateland on Wednesday. They're spending Thursday in Zurich, I'll be joining them Friday and then we come to Basel. They go back to Zurich on Tuesday and then fly Back Home on Wednesday. Yes, I'm having fun with the caps key, why do you ask?

I'm off work Friday, Monday and Tuesday. When Germanboss jokes about making me come in (there's Stuff going on) I tell him he'll have to discuss it with Mom.

Thank you, Swampy for restraint in the TMI department! And happy MMP to you and all.

We've been quaffing the peach iced tea brand of Crystal Light and it's pretty decent; I've never seen one made by Smuckers, though, so you may indeed have been wise to stock up on that. Sometimes companies make good product, but don't promote it well, and sounds like that might be what happened with that peach iced tea.

Still thinking good thoughts for you on the job hunt, Swampy (btw, how -do- you guys keep track of all the various nicknames?! *lol*). I'm up early this am, already caffeinating and getting ready to get ready (lol) for work.

Did anyone see The Tudors on Showtime last night, btw? Whoa, whoever knew that Henry VIII was so buff! I really liked Jonathan Rhyss-Myers (sp?) as Elvis in that bio pic a couple of years ago; Randy Quaid played Col. Parker, who called Elvis an "ungrateful hillbilly!" At any rate, the costumes and such are quite wonderful and the acting is great too; just don't know how historically accurate it is. But lots of buffness!

Swampy, How selfish is that!? Buying all the peach iced tea! Well, you deserve it. It will keep you focused on the job hunt. Good luck on that BTW.

We got our income tax back this week. Usually I'm the voice of reason, while hubby wants to spend it like our last name is Hilton. It isn't. Surprisingly, this time he is saying we should pay off the credit cards instead of buying him a new computer for his birthday, which is what I wanted to do. So, I'm saying good buy to my good friends Visa AmEx and MC. They will sleep in the safe for a while. It will be nice to have a little money left at the end of the month.

Even though it is Monday, I'm now going (back) to bed for Sunday. I was asleep, but had a bad dream. This takes my mind off the nightmares. Now I'm sleepy again.

I don't like instant tea, but I have a Mister Coffee Iced Ted Pot, so I can just pop out some fresh brewed whenever I feel like it. It's raining today, so I think I'll clean, so I can really goof off the rest of vacation.

BooFae, You could always make hot tea with peach flavored tea/tea bags and ice it down.

I believe he was a pretty active guy. He was big into dancing and started the process of raising hemlines on dresses so that women could properly move (according to my dance teacher in high school.)

Good morning! Nice OP, swampy. I hereby order one of the jobs that's not an "in the meantime" job to call and hire you. Now!!!!!

We don't necessarily keep nicknames straight, tarra. Usually, they're not too hard to figure out from context.

I've had peach iced tea several times. One of the nurseries that I go to in the summer serves it to all their customers. Don't know which brand, but it's good.

I should have been up quite a while ago. But I didn't feel like it. I need to make today's lunch and get myself to work.

Happy Monday, everyone!!!

Mornin'! Peach iced tea? No, I'm sorry...that's not gonna work for me. Peaches are only allowed in cobbler, ice cream, and on my pancakes. Liquified peaches freak me out a little. But I am interested in another cup o' coffee!

The job....hmmmm...I work for a catholic hospital system and I don't know if I get Good Friday off or not. Mr. K is off so it would be nice if we could have a day off together, but I have a feeling that's not going to happen.

I'm waiting for delivery of a 42" TV that my son bought us. I hope it comes today!

Have a good Monday, all!

Hey Twicks, I have another question for your mag, if you're interested. "How do I get rid of a serious infestation of carpenter bees?"

So far, I sorted a lumber pile they were in, and burned all the pieces with the tell-tale holes (the frantic buzzing and flying, flaming bees was quite kewl), and I went through 2 cans of Raid Wasp and Hornet spraying the holes I couldn't put in a burn pile. So far, I cut the population down by about half.

A Monday Morning Harrumph to everyone else. Iced tea sucks, and it's a good way to ruin peaches/peach flavoring. I may be Southern by choice, but I'll never drink iced tea in any form, nor will I chew tobacco. That much Hoosier lives on in this transplanted bod.

Morning all. Peach iced tea is yummy.

Swampy, every job I've ever had is an "in the meantime" job. I live knowing that one day the job market will have an opening for the one job that I am eminently qualified for: Beer-chocolate-pizza-videogame tester at the starting salary of $250,000, with bennies and a 3 day work week. One day of fishing per week is required.

Until that happens, every job is just a filler. . .

Bolding Mine.

Flaming Bees... BAND NAME! Sorry I just couldn't resist. <snerk> Flaming Bees <snerk>

Hey Twicks! I got Twicks to post in the MMP! That's so jake! Thanks for the nice words sweetie. I'll survive this. Like I said, most of us have been there done that a couple times in our lives.

welby I gotta say, you know how to dream big when it comes to the perfect job.

doggio I'm not a fan of instant tea myself but this Smucker's peach stuff is nummy!

picu yay on the payin' off credit cards! I know, it was just selfish of me to buy up all the peach iced tea but I learned my lesson at Big Lots with some shower gel I really liked. I didn't go back and get more when I should have and then it was gone. I haven't found it anywhere ever again. It was a grapefruit scented gel that's called Tropical Indulgence. I wish I could find it again cause it was nice. A very light grapefruity scent, it felt good to shower with and made the bathroom smell citrusy for a couple hours after a shower. Thus, now when I find sump'n I really like at Big Lots, I tend to stock up.

Herbs I haven't tried the Crystal Light brand of peach iced tea. I might get a can of it just to try cause I know I can find that pretty much everywhere. I like their lemonade.

It's so nice out this mornin'! Mid 60s and cloudy. We have more chance of rain today and I hope it does. It rained pretty much all night and I can see how it's washed out a lot of the little pollen producin' things on pine trees. YAY!!!

Ok, off to caffienate a bit more then purty up. I actually did go ahead and clean up the whole swampcave yesteday and last night. Oh, and because I know y'all will feel slighted if there's not at least a little TMI, I gotta go pee.

Morning, all. Great OP, Swampy. I know you'll find the right job. I have a friend who had a t-shirt that said, "When God closes one door, I know he opens another...but man, these hallways are a bitch!" I know when Papa Tigs was laid off, even though it was really hard at the time, things ended up working out SO MUCH for the better. So I know it will for you, too!

There's a kind of bottled peach tea that a friend introduced me to years ago. I wish I could remember the brand right now, but I'm drawing a blank, but it's very common and really yummy. I was quite addicted to it for a while. But in the tea department, I'm only partially Southern, I guess -- I'll drink iced tea all day and night, but I only like it with lemon, not sugar. I just don't like sweet tea, never have. It made it tough to live in Georgia, I can tell you, where sweet tea is not only the default choice, it's often the only choice!

I'm off to therapy in a bit. I hope they're impressed with my knee and leg; the sickly yellow bruising is now running the entire way down my shin. It's quite spectacular. It's not bright enough to show up well in a photo, I don't think, or I'd show you all. At least it's not hurting quite so much. I may still ask them to be nice to me, though. I can still bend it as far as I could so I haven't lost any progress; I just don't like inflicting pain on myself for some reason.

It's supposed to get to 75° here today. I hope so -- it would be nice to open up the house and get it nicely aired out again. I love open windows!

My ex-boyfriend drank instant peach iced tea (the Crystal Light stuff, or the store brand if he could get it, his choice not mine) all the time. Bleah. It's not that I don't like it, but sweet drinks tend to make me thirsty, and I don't like them at all with food. Just the other night at a restaurant here I ordered iced tea, and when she didn't ask me "Sweet or unsweet?" I asked her. Apparently I'm finally far enough north that you have to ask for the sweet stuff! Yay!

Job hunting bites. I've got an interview tomorrow, part-time retail, unexciting but it's a pet store which means there'll be critters around. I'm still waiting for a callback from the one I really want. Others will have to wait until I get back into town.

*yawn* I must caffienate some more.

VunderBob -- cameo appearance to offer cyberhugs to swampy, only. (I hope he gets oodles o' points for this.) No clue on the carpenter bees -- keep after 'em with the Raid, I guess, and seal holes as best you can.

Good OP, Swampus. I hope you find sumpin' you like soon, besides Peach Iced Tea. That sounds a little gross to me, sorry. I like my iced tea iced-tea-flavored and sweet.

I'm at work and I'm all caffeinated and breakfasted. Warning: Yoplait mango flavor is kinda ick. The mango bits have a weird texture. I ate it anyway, 'cuz I would get too hungry if I didn't.

It's so cool that I have this Friday off, I had last Friday off, and I have the next Friday off, too! Then I have to work a whole five days in a row, then I only have to come in Monday and Tuesday. April will be a good month! I know, I know, I'm barely back to work and already looking forward to time off.

Flaming bees would be tres cool to see, Bobbio. Too bad you didn't get a picture. Next time you set some bees on fire, be sure to make it a Kodak moment! But of course be careful.

Good morning.

I also enjoy peach tea, but these days I'm slowly becoming a Tea SnobTM. I especially like some of the blends from Teavana; most of their white teas with fruit infusions are great, as they actually have little pieces of dried fruit mixed in with the loose tea. Expensive yet tasty. I also am tempted to put a Zojirushi hot water dispenser on a future wedding registry; there's not much chance that I'd drop $200 on a fancy hot water dispenser on my own these days.

This past weekend, I was able to see a family friend that we hadn't heard from in a while. It was good to sit and chat for a while, but it nearly made me late to my regular volunteer hours at the museum library. At the end of my shift, I stayed behind for 20 minutes to watch a program in Japanese (which I don't speak/understand) on resist dyeing techniques. It was pretty neat to watch, as I didn't need the voiceover to understand what was going on.

Swampus, if you like citrus shower gel, you'll probably like some of the Lush range. I've got some Happy Hippy which is made with pink grapefruits and has a fantastic citrus smell. There used to be one called Back for Breakfast which was like orange and lemon marmalade but I don't think they do that on it's own any more. Oh, it's just an excuse to buy gift boxes!

Great OP, Swampster! I hear ya 'bout the job hunt. I hate it. Besides the general worry about what you'll end up with and when and where you'll end up with it, and the general feeling of instability and uncertainty, there's the tedious work involved -- faxing resumes, (hopefully) taking potential employer calls, (hopefully) getting interviews, then actually doing the interviews (a chapter in itself), and then repeating the process when they don't pan out or you're not sure you'll hear from them again, yadda yadda. It's more stressful than anything, but the stress just amps up the overall annoyance and frustration levels. Three jobs ago I lost my job in mid-January, and it took me two and a half months to find a job. With no savings to speak of and my previous job having paid way too little (I took it for the IT experience), those two and a half months were lean indeed, and the job search became more and more frustrating at time passed. Fortunately I lucked into a good job after that (that turned into crap -- corporate BS), and then tripped an fell into an even better job directly resulting from the experience I gained with my previous job. It's all very Zen. I like my current job, and it looks pretty long-term for me (cross fingers, toss salt, knock on wood, etc.) so, thank Og, no job searches in my immediate (or hopefully distant) future that I won't undertake deliberately.

Never tried peach iced tea, and had no idea Smuckers made anything other than jams and preserves (which are quite decent). I like ordinary lemon iced tea though. I have tended to avoid the flavoured stuff because most of the ones I've tried taste chemical-y and have a nasty aftertaste. Lipton make a great instant iced tea though -- the one that comes in those small packets that you dump into a bottle of water and shake. I was surprised they were as good as they are, though they are far from the best I've had. Peach iced tea sounds interesting though.

I wish we had Big Lots here. We do have XS Cargo, which is also a closeout chain store (albeit much smaller), but the stores aren't that big and the selection of merchandise tends towards the skimpy side. A lot of it is unknown foreign or dollar-store-type brands of fantastically cheap quality, and most of the rest is known but also cheap brands (i.e. electronics by GE, Memorex, etc.). They don't carry food or anything either, mostly just furniture, consumer electronics and a few household items (vaccuums, fans, lamps, that sort of thing.) They have a few gems there once in a while though, so it's worth checking their flier from time to time. There's also Factory Direct, but I won't speak of them. I worked for them for a few months as a tech. I have nothing good to say.

On the work-front up here, we're done with inventory for another year. Once again we finished ahead of schedule, which is good. We all took off around 2:30pm on Saturday, so at least a few extra hours of the weekend were salvaged. I slept off the long work week on Sunday -- though I was awakened early by the mother-in-law. She likes doing that, calling early. She knows damn well we'll still be sleeping at 9am, but being older she seems to feel that her age entitles her to expect everyone else to work around her schedule. <grumble, grumble> Still, what extra sleep I did get has left me feeling pretty good this morning -- surprising for a Monday. Doubly surprising for a Monday after a one-point-one-day weekend. It's a short week, to boot, so I'm a happy office drone. Except it's busy this morning. I guess closing for that day and a half has backed up a lot more calls than I thought it would. Oh well -- busy is good. Makes the day go quicker, keeps me employed.

My dad's coming over this evening. I don't know how in the name of Og's holy buttocks he manages it, but he seems to manage to cock up things that I personally set up for him and that should, by any estimation, be foolproof. I set up his PVR/capture card a couple of weeks ago and configured it to get TV and radio and be able to capture from the camcorder we bought him for Christmas. Everything tested just dandy. Somehow, when he caps from the camcorder now, it's recording "squished" (his word). How? How does he manage it? The man has supernatural powers of electronic buggery, and he has no conscious control over them.

I find that a lot of instant teas or other instant drinks are either too sweet or too chemical-y for my taste as well; however, there are a few of them that are much better than the ready-made stuff of the same brand.

Big Lots can be great or it can be awful. If there's one nearby when I move, I'll more than likely check it out to see if there's any stuff that I'll need for setting up house. Most of the stuff that I've found that's useful that they regularly carry are storage bins and the like. I'll probably get garbage cans from there for the house, as they almost always have them. I'm not so sure as to whether anything else they have will be useful.

Morning, folks.

I only drink iced tea at home, or at certain people's houses. Restaurants never make it strong enough for me. The only exception is at Olive Garden. Their peach iced tea is always good and they give you actual peaches in it.

Great OP, bear! Ugh! Job hunting bites! I hope you find something real soon. Oh, and as for having to pee...hope everything comes out alright.

Peach tea is the crack of all iced teas. I predict it will be a long time before you "get over" it. I've been drinking the Crystal Light variety for a while now. I like it cause I can just add it to my bottled water. And it's not "too" sweet. I've tried the Lipton variety and did NOT like it.

And I luuuurves me some Big Lots. It is the BEST place to pick up tchachkis for the house.

Beautiful weekend at the Anachi house. We could use some rain, though.

Saturday Mr. Anachi and I bought some tile for the back porch floor. Right now it's just slab but it will soon have a lovely faux herringbone brick motif. Then I bought him a jig saw for his birthday. I even let him pick it out cause I'm nice like that, dammit!

Last night we watched Planet Earth in HD. Too cool! Anybody else watching that?

Tupug

Ewwww, it's Monday. I hate Mondays. Well, I guess this one's okay, except for having to go to class. And having to do laundry. And having to buy textbooks. And having to start reading.

I take it back. This Monday sucks. Fortunately, I have two (count 'em 2) new video games that I purchased yesterday on the cheap to entertain me afterwards: Geist and Eternal Darkness. They're Gamecube games, and both of them seem to be quite good so far. In the spirit of that first game, I bring you today's pun:

00swampus, good MMP! I approve. Although, I'm not a tea drinker. And I'm not on the job hunt. But I wish you luck!

Darn--I meant to watch Planet Earth last night. It was the desert/ice one, wasn't it?

My daughter is back from France--sick. She has a bad head cold, not helped by the altitude change and the dry air on the plane. Poor baby is upstairs asleep. She had a lovely time, btw.

Job searching sucks. No other word for it. I finally found one (I start in June) so that I can quit the hellhole place I'm in now. Actually my new job is in the same place, but under a whole different department. Yay!

I love iced tea, but I'm not into flavored iced teas. I did become addicted to raspberry iced tea for one summer (now I can't even smell the stuff).

Swampy, You'd like my favorite perfume then. (it's considered unisex) It's Calyx, by Prescriptives. It's so yummy.

Ugh. Job hunting. That's what I was supposed to do today. I suppose I'd best go do it. *le sigh* I'll catch up later.

That's the problem. Porch swing is a given, so they don't feel a need to list it.

Job hunting does bite. I'm currently in the market for another job, even though I have one - these people just don't pay me enough. But a serious job-search is almost a job in itself.

My Geekiest Moment Of The Week:

After shaking my bottle of Arthur's POMtastic Smoothie and unscrewing the cap, I noticed that there are fractals underneath it. Four foamy bubbles in a separated quad formation, each encircled by smaller bubbles, with remainder being filled in by yet smaller bubbles.

I wonder if Benoît Mandelbrot came to a similar realization after looking under his milk cap...

Ah...can I order one with a cup holder? That's the perk that will get the ink on the contract.

I'm just trying to think whether to work that into the resume, or bring it up at the interviews.

Oh, right, the prank. Read the link first.

Last week I did the prank outlined in the above link. Today I heard about the repercussions.
We'll call my coworker Kristy and her husband George, for ease of communication.

So...Kristy took my paper home. When she got home, George had already bought Friday's paper but hadn't read it yet, so she quietly substituted mine.

A little later, he picked up the paper and marched off into the bathroom, as usual. She says she heard:

rustle
then rustle rustle rustle
then flipflipflipflip (presumably of him turning the pages)

So he comes out when he's all done (or whatever), steaming mad. "Did you see this? I just bought this paper at lunch and look what someone's done to it? Jeez, I leave something out for five minutes."
She doesn't say anything but sympathize, she's very good at that. He storms off. Five minutes later he comes back over to her.
"You didn't react right to that. What's up?"
She finally can't hold it in anymore and tells him.
He says "Well, I'm glad you guys can have so much fun at MY expense!"
Hee hee! He's a good sport, though, and is not mad, but love envisioning his rage at some mysterious person cutting up his paper.

Hello folks! Great OP, Swampy. I am home from work today for reasons that are much too TMI-ey to say here.

The weekend was somewhat busy, but nice overall. Friday night we went to a friend's house for dinner and movies, Saturday some friends were supposed to come over, but they got sidelined by something, so the hubby and I ended up gaming and then watching Blood Diamond. I thought the movie was pretty darn good; very disturbing; but good.

Yesterday evening, my mom came over. Her list of woes was long...sigh.

At any rate, she had decided to try and apply for disability through Social Security. She will be 70 in November and is still working. Her lymphodema has gotten worse, if that's even possible. The therapist that she was seeing for it, told my mother there wasn't anything else she could for my mom.

There are many other things going on with her, but as I said, the list is very long.

I printed off some fact sheets, worksheets, and forms from the Social Security website for my mother. I told her to make an appointment with them and they'd go through all the forms with her.

I really hope she gets approved. I know the process will take a long time; but she is really in bad shape.

The kids are home for spring break. They are currently sleeping. I should roust their hineys out of bed and make them do some chores. I'll let them sleep until noon at the latest, then they are going to some long overdue chores like cleaning their rooms and the bonus room.

I guess I'll cruise around the Dope for awhile. It's so pleasant to be able to post here during the day. I miss doing that.

I'd broach it at the salary wrangling stage, meself.

So, I went to Walgreen's to pick an Rx and drop off daughter's film. As a treat, I thought I'd do the ONE HOUR PROCESSING thingy, which I never do because I'm cheap (what? you can't wait a day or two for your pics? Grow a set!).

Very bored chick behind the counter, chewing gum (pet peeve of mine). I tell her I will pick up my pics at 12:30 (which was actually giving her 2 hours--this was earlier this morning). She looks at me, snaps a bubble and states that "ONE HOUR" means ONE DAY. The guy behind me in line laughed. I'm picking my pics up at 3 pm.

I swear I'm going to start writing letters to the editor or ranting on a street corner soon....

Morning. Ugh. I haven't been sleeping lately, and last night was a doozy. I might have gotten 4 hours sleep. I can barely keep my eyes open this morning. But at least I had the sense to make a doctor's appt for Wed to talk about this insomnia thing. The real problem is stress/worry though. And I just don't know how to fix that. Sleep drugs aren't going to make me worry less. (Although maybe I'd be fully awake while worrying, which wouldn't hurt anything.)

Job hunting does suck. It took me >2 months to find this job last year. Next week will be a year since I came out here for interviews! I can't believe it's been that long. But despite that, I still clearly remember the pain of the search and empathize with everyone who's going through it right now. Staying motivated's the hardest part. Good luck, best wishes, etc.

I went to the dentist this morning. I love the dentist. I have really good teeth so every time I go, they always say nice things to me and make me feel good. That and I like the feel of them poking at my teeth. Dunno why, it just feels good.

It's the week of doctors. As I said, dentist this morning, doctor on Wednesday and I'm taking poor Miss Lily to the vet tonight. She's itching her left ear like crazy, and I think it might be ear mites. Poor kitty.

Yesterday we went to see Farm Babies at the zoo. CUUUUUUTTTTE! Two-day-old baby pigs and week-old lambs and baby goats. Just so adorable. It was rainy and yucky though so by the time we got home we were both really cold.

But KeithT made it better. He made a slice of leg of lamb (not the whole leg) with dijon mustard and pecans. Tres yum! (If a bit ironic after visiting the baby lambs at the zoo!)

Tell me about it. It's such a grueling task, and takes up so much more time than you'd expect. Grrr. Argh.

Happy Monday fellow MMPers! I am currently trying to write two more pages of my thesis in the next hour or so - don't think that's going to happen, but I'm doing my darndest. Then I have to go downtown and turn in some papers for the part-time teaching job I have lined up. Then I have to do more thesis work. And do readings for class. We have complete drafts due next Monday, so it promises to be a grueling week.

Hi
I'm back safe and sound. Each trip (up and back) took about 5 hours. I am all drive'd out for now.
Pictures and tales (and me actually reading the thread) after a well deserved nap.

Oh, one thing. When I got back to the hotel yesterday evening, I got a call - the call. Our director's sister passed away yesterday afternoon. I had a feeling as my brother and I were on the way to the party, and I told him as much. I have to go to another wake tomorrow.
But for now, I sleep.

I love those. They're so mind-numbingly boring, but I type fast enough and they're such predictable and repetitive tasks that you can get a good rhythm going and be done in seemingly no time. I could do 300 in 20 minutes or less. (system/software speed permitting). Hell, this past inventory had me entering part numbers to check for variance -- hundreds of them. But it was easy work and I was able to get into the flow pretty easily. I'd go stir crazy if I had to do this every day, but once in a while it's nice to be able to sit and do something mindlessly predictable for a short while.

But then, I also keep pretty detailed iTunes album info, which often requires manual entry of album names, song names, artist names, years, track numbers, genres, album art, and all sorts of crap, so ... I guess it's just me.
