OK, I guess it’s up to me once again. Time to rally the troops, as it were. For a variety of reasons (read: the rest of y’all are too damn lazy), I feel compelled to try to have another Dopefest for the LA and LA adjacent and LA-esque crowd.
For some of you, it has been far too long since I’ve last seen you. I owe some of you bowling, I owe others of you sushi, and at least one of you is owed a combination of the two. For some of you, I’ve seen you recently, but would like to see you again. Some of you, I haven’t even had the pleasure of meeting. And for at least one of you, I just want to see what eye-catching shirt you might show up in this time around and if you’re bringing alcohol. (I hope silenus will note that I’m not naming names here, for the record.)
So, what’s it going to take for me to get you folks out for dinner and entertainment? Do I need to offer flowers? Candy? A sworn statement that I’ll keep at least an arm’s-length distance from you at all times? A promise that I won’t show up if you will? Just tell me!
I am proposing Saturday, November 15th simply because it’s the first open date on my calendar, but I am by no means married to the idea. I’m just trying to start a dialog, people. Help me out. Let’s make a plan.
That seems workable to me, I believe. But location is going to be the deciding factor. Yes, gas is cheaper these days, but I don’t wanna drive through to the northern side of L.A. or anything.
I’ve never met any dopers, so this sounds like fun! But yeah, location is semi-important. I’m in the Valley and don’t mind traveling, but within limits.
I’m north of Lancaster. Mostly the closer 'fest is, the more likely I am to be able to convince my husband to go, especially at the tail-end of his semester. Commuting as much as he does, it’s like pulling teeth to make a big hump for recreational purposes.
I’ll do whatever begging I need to do, but make no promises.
I’d love to come to my first SoCal get-together and meet you all, but i am making a trip back to the east coast in the middle of November, and will be in Washington on the 15th.
I’m in. STG, Antinor* I will be happy to drive you guys (and anybody else from the North Lands) to where ever we decide.
I missed the get together at Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles. I could go for that. Or I would even go for that place we went to last time in the OC with the killer liquor store near it.

You people are being far too agreeable to this. It’s…scaring me a little. Personally, I would love to do another Roscoe’s gathering since so few people were able to make it last time. However, I am not (necessarily) interested in pushing my own agenda, so please throw out some ideas, people!
silenus and mhendo, no worries – I’d actually like to have this happen more often, so I don’t intend for folks to have to wait another six months for the next get-together.
