Mafia: Evil Dead - DAY/NIGHT TWO

INT CABIN LIVING ROOM - DAWN

The room is filled with the trash and human detritus that grows out of a college sorority party; it looks like the violence and death of the previous evening cast only a slight pall over the planned festivities. Someone is snoring, sleeping off a truly epic drinking spree. PLEONAST stands up.

PLEONAST
Has anyone seen bufftabby?

PEDESCRIBE
I haven’t seen her in hours.

PLEONAST
All right, I’ll go look for her.

PEDESCRIBE
Take someone with you.

PLEONAST
No, no. Everyone knows that in a horror movie, the best plan when someone goes missing is to split up and look for them alone. I’ll be right back.

*PLEONAST exits. There is a pause. Suddenly, we hear PLEONAST’S scream, horrified and very loud. The group rises with a start, follows off in the same direction.

Cut to: PLEONAST’s face, still screaming. We see the crowd pile in behind PLEO, who is staring at a horrible sight. On the floor is a bleached pile of bones, still flickering with the white-hot fire that burned its flesh away. We see a small metal symbol of a denominationally nonspecific religion, which has survived the fire, hanging around the skeleton’s neck.*

THING FISH, the Religious Figure Having a Crisis of Faith, a Pro-Town Investigator, has combusted.

PLEONAST screams again, looks up. BUFFTABBY has been transfixed to the wall of the garage, impaled through the chest with a piece of rebar. Her head slumps low. On her forehead is a bright red handprint. Suddenly, she looks up, still pinned to the wall by the rebar.

BUFFTABBY
(Demonically)
I’ll swallow your souls!!! Uh… would somebody let me down?

BUFFTABBY, the Skanky Vampire Demon, a Scum Roleblocker, is about as dead as MACEY.

Horrified, they all stumble out, leaving PLEONAST alone, still staring down at the skeleton that once was THING FISH. After a moment, we hear the sound of guttural laughter from behind PLEO. Cut to black.

PLEONAST, the Sorority Treasurer, a Pro-Town Mason, has met a most heinous end.

Day Two begins now, and will end at exactly 1:00PM on Tuesday, December 30. All Day actions are due by 12:45PM on the same day.

I will need about an hour to get Night PMs out, so please be patient; if you are expecting a PM, one will arrive presently.

I’ve seen worse.

Go Town!

…Wow, I didn’t expect to live. Cool!

Looks like I was wrong about TF. :frowning: But we got another Deadite!

And three kills today…hmm…my guess at this poing is a vig hit TF (cuz of all the suspicion on him), a Serial Killer hit Buff (because she’s gotten a good reputation), and the scum took out Pleo because I was defending him even though he pointed out my slip, and they correctly deduced that he was also a mason.

Sorry, I didn’t mean to quote the original post.

Well fuckity fuck fuck. Except the part about Buffy the Skanky Vampire.

Huh…two games in a row with the detective getting nailed on Day One. I’d be pissed if we* weren’t kicking serious Deadite ass.

*By “we”, I mean town, but certainly not me by any stretch. Like I said from the beginning, my participation will be extremely light until I go back to work on 1/5.

This could’ve been much worse. Two scum (mostly) down so far, going into Day Two, one by a lynch.

The worry that I’m having is the fact that both of our dead scum aren’t “dead” for the purposes of “deadites remaining alive” whatever that means–conservatively, we ought count them as alive for the purposes of guessing whether we’re at lynch or lose, but that’s about it.

It seems likely we’re either really lucky or all the scum have powers.

Finally, I looked over the voting records–while it was pretty clear that the macey wagon was unstoppable, it didn’t look so much like anyone was particularly trying to stop it–there was no pile on Thing Fish as it may have appeared during that hectic Day, in that it never got closer than 6-4. Further, none of the early macey voters unvoted at any point, despite a number of places it could have derailed the train (assuming also that macey would’ve shut his mouth for a second or two, but since scum can in theory talk in the daytime, that would’ve been easy if the scum wanted to pull that play).

I’m not really seeing anything else that jumps out at me yet.

Story posted a vote count at night. I don’t think he would do that for no reason. Thing Fish was the leading vote getter when the night ended. I think he might have been night lynched.

I have never heard of a Night lynch before - but just to be safe we might need to unvote at Night from now on.
Not sure what to think of this - I’m really sorry if I was part of a Night lynch. But I placed my vote on the one most scummy and I was wrong. This happens and will happen again. But just to be sure - I’ll do my best to unvote during Night until we know what’s going on…

[Lascivious N’Awlins drawl]
Oh, sugah, Ah aint nevah had a good reputation. [/LND]
Go scum! :stuck_out_tongue:

This is…interesting. Good for us, though, if town can kill twice as fast. OTOH, it could mean that scum get two kills per night. But since we killed the strongman, maybe they can’t?

One problem with your theory is the color. In the dusk color, it was clear we were attacking macey. In the dawn color, it’s more of a ‘found dead’ thing. So I’m not so sure.

Okie Dokie.

Fuck, Yee Haw, Shit.

Back in a bit with something a little more contributory.

Mod question: does the presence of votes during night have an impact on the Night’s resolution

Don’t expect much in the way of a direct response, but what the hey.

A very eventful evening.

unvote where-the-fuck-are-you-BLaM
vote Hawkeyop

At worst he’s leveraging a scummy card trick that he’s been stoking since yesterDay. At best he’s just barking up the wrong tree while looking very much like he’s leveraging a scummy card trick.

I meant that sentence more as a response to Hawkeyeop’s vote analysis. I should have written ‘since we’ll have more information at dawn, we can do better analysis then’. I definitely wasn’t sure I would survive, but am glad I did do so on my first Mafia night :).

Onto the Night kills:
Thing Fish: unlikely to be the scum or a serial killer kill, since he had the most votes.
That leaves vigilante or ‘Night lynch’ as suggested. They could be the same if the vigilante can only/must kill the one with (the most?) votes.
Unvoting for now is an OK way to handle it, though if we get closer to lynch or lose it would give scum two kills (last minute vote + Night kill).

bufftabby: Either serial killer or vigilante. Not sure why pedescribe thinks she had a good reputation, she was even a bit suspicious in my book.

Pleonast: Most likely the scum kill, though might be SK. He got some votes early, but stayed cool and only had Thing fish’s vote at the end of the Night.

vote CometotheDarkSideWeHaveCookies

Her votes yesterDay were almost entirely just “me too” votes.

Come again?

Why?

Why those three?

Mod question: were there any Night Zero actions by any faction?

However, I will answer your second question: no actions of any kind took place on Night Zero.

pedescribe - (Pleonast), (Almost Human), (bufftabby), (Hawkeyeop), (DiggitCamara)
TotalLost - (Pleonast)
Pleonast - (Natlaw), (Jsexton), Thing Fish
Rapier42 - (Pleonast), amrussell
Jsexton - (Cookies), (Hockey Monkey), (Pleonast)
Thing Fish - Total Lost, (special ed), (pedescribe), peekercpa, Pleonast, Chucara
DiggitCamara - (Natlaw)
peekercpa - (amrussell), Natlaw
macey - brewha, Hawkeyeop, Hockey Monkey, special ed, dotchan, Jsexton, pedescribe, Rapier42, Millit the Frail
Chucara - NAF1138, DiggitCamara
Cookies - bufftabby
Blaster Master - Cookies
Millet the Frail - Almost Human

No vote: MHaye (promised one, but board outage), Blaster Master (no posts), Nanook of the North Shore (traveling), Zeriel (says busy at work, one post with fluff vote on dotchan), Hal Briston (one post), macey

Colors: Unknown, Town, Deadite
In brackets: Unvoted or invalid vote

Other points of note:
-pedescribe claimed mason when he had five votes and brewha marked him as most suspicious (but didn’t vote yet)
-People to post but who ignored macey: bufftabby, peekercpa, DiggitCamara

My analysis:

  1. with bufftabby pushing pedescribe, I think it’s less likely Almost Human, Hawkeyeop and DiggitCamara are scum as well.
  2. since the macey votes were pretty quick, I doubt there are scum in the early voters. Of course, if there are, they couldn’t really unvote without drawing suspicion (or were hindered by board outage). Late voters could be scum hiding, but on the other hand that would be a bit too obvious.
  3. bufftabby ignored macey, so I don’t find it unlikely peekercpa and DiggitCamara did it for the same reason.
  4. bufftabby’s vote for Cookies doesn’t say much about her alignment.

I’ll keep my vote on peekercpa for now (since by point one DiggitCamara is a bit less suspicious), while I go reread and try to separate the ‘peeker tells’ from the game comments.
Also looking at the Hawkeyeop and ComeToTheDarkSideWeHaveCookies argument. With bufftabby’s vote and dotchans vote (it was Hockey Monkey with the ‘me too’ vote), it could be a scum setup for Cookies. Or more paranoid town infighting…
