My second-grader’s teacher has asked her to write down an amusing family holiday story her parents have told her. She got the assignment Monday, and her dad and I have been racking our brains all week trying to think of something, anything, to tell her. We can think of poignant stories, sad stories, heartwarming stories, and far more pathetic stories than any one family should have. Nothing even remotely amusing.
Oh, we have other funny stories. We’ve got great pet stories that are a scream, funny childhood stories galore, hysterical stories that we won’t be telling the children until they’re grown - but something about the holidays apparently sucks all the lightheartedness out of our family.
Does anyone have a story our holiday-humor challenged family can appropriate? Boy, we’re lame.
