Kirk Cameron caught in a gay bar??

http://blindgossip.com/?p=22812#more-22812

Quote:
BlindGossip – This former ’80s sitcom star was always very cute and popular and respectable. He married his actress sweetheart, and the couple are two of the straightest and most uber-conservative celebs and parents around. So it pains us to inform you that he’s actually a major closet case. One of his wife’s friends spotted him in a gay bar a few nights ago. The wife was so mad that she locked him out of the house and threatened divorce.
Hmmmm....

Neither would I, but that "article" doesn't even name Kirk Cameron - that's simply the most common guess in the comments. And every other reference I'm finding on the web traces back to that blurb.

Admittedly I haven't looked hard, but a casual googling uncovers no other source for this story.

Don't particularly care one way or the other, but I certainly wouldn't base my opinion on this gossip piece.

It doesn't even say he was caught doing anything, just that he was in the building. So what? Straight people go into gay bars, too and not everyone is at a bar to pick up someone for sex.

And the odds of that being true are pretty low.

The article doesn't name Kirk Cameron, doesn't name his wife, and says "his wife's friend spotted him in a gay bar a few nights ago." It's about as reliable a source as the brown thing I just dropped into my toilet.

Your wallet?!? Dude - you gotta fish that thing out. It may smell like shit now, but having to go and cancel all those credit cards and getting a new driver's license is a HUGE pain in the ass. Think about how much you rely on that thing - it's the most reliable thing I own!

As a gay male, Cameron doesn't strike me as being gay in the least. I can say I worked in a hotel and he and his wife were our guest. I have NEVER met a nicer celebrity than Kirk and his wife. Chelsea Noble is also one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen.

And at that hotel we had a whole bunch of "jerky celebs" but the Camerons were the nicest and classiest I've ever come across.

Of course none of this means Kirk isn't gay. I just thought I'd say that. People seem to think he's a jerk 'cause he's all religious. He's definately not a jerk, at least in public.

If it isn't Kirk, who else would qualify?

Michael J Fox married his on screen sweethart, but he's not conservative, is he?

Who else could it be?

It could be an older guy too.

Maybe, but the point was that simply being in a gay bar doesn't make someone "a major closet case" or even unfaithful.

Then why did his wife lock him out of the house?

I'm going to go ahead and assume it's true, just because it's more fun to do so.

It's a "blind item" which is very common on gossip sites, but almost always turn out to be true. They refuse to name names, partially for privacy, partially to avoid lawsuits, but they tend to paint a reasonably clear picture so you can make an educated guess. Occasionally they do reveal who it was, much later.

Sounds too much like wishful thinking. Besides, if Cameron were in a gay bar it'd probably be to witness.

Well the story says "It pains me to tell you," so that's a strong indication they mean Kirk as he was in "Growing Pains."

But you'd think with everyone and his brother having a camera phone, proof would be easy to get.

So, if it really is true, and it really was Cameron, what does that imply? That he's a fundamentalist social conservative, of course, but we already knew that.

Actually, considering Cameron's past, I could believe that he was too naive to realize it WAS a gay bar. He doesn't strike me as being all that bright.

I just wanted to say, Mark, it's extremely classy of yourself to say such nice things about a person whose views you must find somewhat off-putting, to say the least.

I used to take girls to gay bars on twofer nights because the food was good and the price was right. Maybe Kirk was looking for a bargain.

Or doing research for more stupid anti-evolution videos.

Heh heh. I could picture him on the street, really needing to pee and going into the gay bar with no idea. Once in, I could see him being the real life Kenneth from 30 Rock.

Maybe she jumped to conclusions like a lot of other people did. Some people are very jealous or insecure and aren't capable of giving even their spouse the benefit of the doubt, especially when first confronted with "news" like that.

Has Kirk (or his wife) ever been or said anything anti-gay?

As I said, he seems to have found some peace in religion, but that doesn't mean he's hateful because of it.

If it was even Cameron in the first place.

They may be idiots, but I don't think that after 20 years of marriage, and sanctimonious God bothering, that she's going to believe her husband suddenly turned gay overnight. If, hypothetically, this gossip item is true, then her locking him out would indicate she had pretty good reasons (based on some kind of history), not to believe he had an innocent explanation. Spouses who have been together that long know each other, and even the dumb ones know what's believable about their SO and what isn't.

No, they don't almost always turn out to be true. And even when there's some truth to them, it's usually just that: a grain of truth inside a cloud of overblown dramatics. They're free to exaggerate because they're not naming names.

(Assuming it is Kirk...) Kirk Cameron and his wife seem to be of the ultra-conservative stripe of Christianity that would find simply being in a bar to be scandalous. I could see him being locked out of his home for simply being caught in a bar, even if he genuinely had no clue the bar in question was a gay bar or not.

Spoken from experience with ultra-conservative Christianity. Cooking with wine, even using Dijon mustard, is scandalous. If you're seen by a fellow church-goer at a grocery with a bottle of vodka sauce for your pasta dinner, you'll probably be taken aside by the pastor that Sunday. Seen entering a movie theater or dance studio, you're in trouble. That kind of thing.

Perhaps, like people in this thread, she mistakenly assumes since he went to a gay bar he must have been there guzzling cock.
