I just got an e-mail from my local baseball team with the opportunity to bid on game jerseys worn by different players. This got me wondering are game jerseys washed before they are auctioned? Does being washed affect the value?

(note: if the answer is no they are not washed, my reply is eewww!!!)

They are probably washed. Game worn jerseys just mean that they were used during a game. The clubhouse attendant washes the jerseys after the games that are played. That doesn't mean there won't be a dirt stain or two on them...but it is very unlikely it will be unsanitary so to speak.
