Stupid commercials that you LIKE
I will confess, there are a couple.
One is the one where the guy is supposed to decide if the cheese is mature enough to be sent to stores or something like that. The immature cheeses are goofy and play practical jokes (like the snake in a can), but the mature cheese is polite and compliments the cheese-checker on his tie. I can't help it; I like that one. Also (and I can't remember what this one is for) the one where burglars break into the house and the product rep says, "I'm your dog. These people just showed up and gave me this bone," and while the burglars are cleaning out the place, the "dog" says to them, "Hey! You guys are great!" In my defense, the only part of the commercial I like is that part, where he's munching on the bone and says that the burglars are great. Okay... it's a slow afternoon.

The Vicks commercial where a guy is pathetically sick and asks his wife "Pam, can you call my mom?"
Just the way he says that line makes me snicker every time. |

I'm not sure if they qualify as stupid, but i really like the AllState ads with Dean Winters, especially the one where he plays the "blind spot".

I hate hate hate to admit this. But Chik Fil A had a new one on the Olympics last night. It made me laugh.
Also on the Olympics last night. BMW commercial. A girl and their dog are sitting in the back seat. She happens to look up front at the in dash screen. On it, it reads something about getting the dog neutered. The girl asks: "Mom, what's neutered mean?" At this point, the dog freaks, jumps out of the car and heads for the hills. |

Capital 1? The Vikings. I remember the commercials, not who they're for.
AllState Dean Winters. |

Another vote for Dean "Mayhem" Winters.
The Geico commercial where the guy hires three middle-school girls to follow him around all week to critique his diet. |

The ones that have the short story arcs along the lines of "when your self esteem is low, you stare out the window. When you stare out the window you see things you shouldn't, etc."
Also, the Geico Mayhem ads. |

I like the antacid commercials where the food hits the eater in the face. Something about food fighting back just tickles my funnybone, I guess- I laugh every time.

I like the Dos Equis ads with the Most Interesting Man in the World. They don't make much sense, but they're still excellent. "I don't always drink beer...but when I do...I prefer...Dos Equis."

The Ally commercial where the grocery customer lets another guy cut in front of him in line. That guy who cut in line ends up becoming the store's one millionth customer, winning $50,000, and whoops it up, while the first guy just stares at him, looking really pissed off.

The Jimmy Fallon one with the baby in a high chair. (Jimmy Fallon ends up wearing Cheerios on his face.) When he asks, "Don't you want more money?" the kid answers, "No!" in a petulant, defiant voice that my husband and I have tried to master.

Yeah, me too. Sadly there is no one in my life except my ex boyfriend with whom I can display random objects aloft and yell "Whoo!" with. I miss that guy. Hey, J... "Whoo!" (kitten) Anyone else in my sphere would roll eyes and think less of me.

I love "Mayhem" and my husband hates him. Naturally, I look for "Mayhem" commercials as often as I can.
I, too, love the DirecTV "When you study karate, you fall into a dinner party" commercials. I try to make up ludicrous ones. I like the one with the Eskimo/Aleutian woman drinking water from an Arctic stream, and the perky cheerleader woman rushes up and says "Helllooooo!" with her bottle of water she says that she got from the drinking fountain at the mall, but it tastes so good because she ran it through a Brita filter or somesuch. The commercial is BS, but I just love the actresses and their total delight in drinking water! They're so fucking happy! |

I like the commercial for Sprint with the boss, who I guess is German, speaking to his employee who missed the important on-line presentation because he had uploaded too many vacation pictures and used up all of his monthly data. The boss looks at his phone and some of the vacation pictures; the employee appears in a bathing suit and the boss goes "oh!", and then when he sees the next one he makes this sort of disapproving grunt/snarl-sort of sound. I'm butchering this description but I'm at work so I can't find it to provide a link. My wife and I always FF through the commercials but when we see that one we back it up and try to mimic the boss' grunt.
The other one is for, I think, State Farm. Husband is on the phone with the SF rep in the middle of the night; wife catches him and think's he's talking to a woman. She grabs the phone and yells "what are you wearing, Bob? If that is your real name..." The SF rep goes "um, khakis and a shirt". Wife hands the phone back to hubby and says "she sounds hideous!" and hubby says "well, she's a guy, so..." |

I don't remember the brand name, but it was for some Greek yogurt. Two women are standing there with cups of yogurt and the one says "if you eat this, whoever you look at looks like John Stamos for five seconds." One of their lardass husbands comes in, right on que, so they eat some and poof! John Stamos. A few seconds later, the husband's friend comes in, looking equally fat, hairy and dopey, and you see the women eating the yogurt like starving dogs. I LOLed when I first saw it.

I like the State Farm commercial where the guy is on the phone with his agent and they speak in Journey lyrics.
"Any way you want it." "That's the way I need it." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jriGDrB41nA Also, my favorite DirecTV commercial is the "Don't re-enact scenes from 'Platoon' with Charlie Sheen" one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2ZYIdmdx14 Last edited by cochrane; 07-30-2012 at 01:02 PM. |

When the wife grabs the phone and says, "What are you wearing?" the State Farm guy just says one thins, "Um...khakis?" in a cautious, perplexed way with a totally midwestern twang. It's the way he says that word that cracks me up. Like: "Okay... what's the next question going to be...?" |

Ooo, that reminds me, I’ve got a commercial-related question that’s not worth its own thread:
In one of the Progressive commercials with the two guys from the other company, Flo says, Progressive has such-and-such. The two guys chime in that their company has it too, in fact they invented it! Their pants catch on fire. Then the first guy says, “It’s like a SOW-na in here.” Question: Why the hell does he mispronounce it like that? Is there some deeper meaning here, or do people somewhere on the planet actually pronounce sauna that way? |

I always crack up during the Western Sky Financial commercial. Indian woman, jade jewelrey, talking about giving you $10,000 today! Pow wow drums and tamborine shaking in the background. Then they show the fine print: APR for $10k is 89.68% with 84 monthly payments of $743.99! What?! Then at the bottom: "100% native american business operating on an American Reservation." Laughing again - "what the hell is going on here?"
