Rules sticky

Late, sorry.

I’m so very glad that Margaery Tomnen scene did not go at all like i expected.

The Law of Conservation of Irredeemable Douchebags is apparently in effect; we lose Joffrey, but we get the rebel (scum) of Craster’s Keep. And, regardless of last week’s rape kerfuffle, it looks like Cersei and Jaime are on the outs now, and Jaime’s looking to turn a new leaf. Sadly, no Arya and the Hound show this week, but we’ve got a teaser for the Brienne and Podrick show. And we get to see Ser Bronn knock Jaime on his ass with his own hand.

Oh, and there was some shit that happened right before the credits. I kinda forget, though.

Good episode, if not earthshaking.

Continuity glitch…in the farewell scene with Brienne and Jamie, he is wearing his sword on his left hip, making it very difficult to draw…

I was figuring Tommen was at least going to see some boobies during that scene.

Bored with Danerys. Also thought crucifying all the masters was bit over the top.

Interesting bit at the end, just begging for a Westeros version of “Behind Blue Eyes”…

I think they’re teasing that inflexibility and harshness as leading to some problems down the road. Also, it’s adding a little bit of nuance to her character; up til now, she’s been as close as this show gets to a “good guy” since Ned Stark.

Could be. I was thinking maybe it’s a shout out to the madness that runs in her family…

Well Jack Gleeson is 22 years old and played a 16-17 year old.
Dean-Charles Chapman was brought in as this season’s Tommen and he’s 17. I know how old Tommen’s supposed to be in the books buuuut, let’s be charitable and say he’s being portrayed as a 14 year old here.

Had that thought as well, as I was typing the earlier post.

Myrcella is the middle child, so if Joffrey was 16 (I can’t recall when this was said), then 14 is basically the upper bound.

It seems to me that one of the themes is young kids taking over for dead adult rulers and due to their youth and inexperience making a hash of things.

It happened with both Joffrey and Rob and I suspect that Dany may wind up running into problems due to her inflexibility similar to the way Rob ran into problems, though hopefully she has a better ending.

Interesting point. You can add Theon Greyjoy to that list. He royally fucked up his attempt to takeover Winterfell.

You’ve pointed this out in both threads but you’re wrong. See here. He has a dagger on his left hip, his sword is on his right.

Not All, but one for each slave who was crucified. Total agreement on the bored part.

With all that Grey Worm and the slaves in Meereen speak in Valurian with English subtitles, but wrote KILL THE [del]Wabbit[/del]MASTERS in English.
Given Grey Worm’s language lessons and total militarism, it would have been a great chance for a “‘People called Romani they go home’?” style homage to LIFE OF BRIAN.

We do not do allusions to other works on Game of Thrones, remember?

It’s driving me a bit batty that the review/recap sites have burned through the screeners and I’m having to wait for thoughts. Reading Sepinwall and the AV Club’s reviews is part of my routine for the shows that they do them for.

About the ending, totally called that going on! I think there was some debate at the time the Craster episodes aired.

Sooo…what does this mean if anything? The evil ice demons just wanna see their ancestral home or something?

EDIT:Is anyone starting to think the white walkers built the wall, NOT humans?

So the new guy at the Wall that volunteered to go with John, I think he said he name was Locke? That was the same guy that cut off Jamie’s hand right? And who was talking about torture with Roose Bolton in a recent episode?

Well, as it happens, Sepinwall’s review is up, and I totally missed that Jon “YKN” Snow’s new recruit is secretly Roose Bolton’s man. Derp.

Yes. If you recall Bolton, Bolton Jr, and Locke were talking about how Jon Snow, as a child of a Stark, might make trouble for them. I think it’s fair to assume that Locke’s obviously false story is a cover for him to visit the Wall and evaluate or maybe even take care of Bolton’s problem.

Yes, in the last episode Locke was sent by Roose Bolton to hunt down Bran and Rickon; I can’t remember if killing them was part of the deal or not, but Ramsay mentioned that killing Jon Snow would be a good idea as well since he is also a Stark. I’m guessing elimination of any remaining Stark kids is #1 priority on the Bolton agenda for solidifying control of the North.

Craster’s women chanting “deliver the child” was among the creepiest moment of the series. It sort of implies they could probably drive out their new masters anytime they wanted to.

I hope Diana Rigg is at least nominated for an Emmy. I would so totally pay to see her and Charles Dance in a revival of THE LION IN WINTER. Speaking of, Dance is an actor so imposing he is noticeable in his absence (as he was tonight).
