Do you get dressed on your day off?

The scenario:

It’s your day off from work. You live alone. You wake up in the morning, and there is nowhere you need to be that day.

Do you get dressed, or do you lounge around in whatever you woke up in?

Me? I sleep naked, and I find something liberating in remaining naked on my day off, only putting clothes on if I have to leave my apartment for some reason.

Poll to follow.

Unless I have company over, I’m always in shorts and a t-shirt at home.

I can’t imagine not getting dressed whether I’m going to work or not. Lounging around is not my life style.

Clothes are what separate us from the apes. Well, that and furniture.

I voted “Yes, but…” with the “but” being: yes, I put clothes on. But I generally don’t put the same kinds of clothes on when I plan on spending the day around the house that I do when I go to work.

Echo racepug, with this addition: if I don’t intend to leave the house, I’ll either wear sweats (in the winter) or ratty shorts and a t-shirt (in the summer.) I’ll dress for comfort, and I’ll always have either shoes and socks or slippers and socks. I don’t like going around in bare feet.

Yep. I may not get dressed right when I get up since I won’t take a shower right away. But I’ll throw on some sweatpants and shirt. After a while on the computer, I’ll always shower and get dressed. Basically the same thing I ware to work which is jeans and often a fleece and some boots/hiking shoes.

I just don’t feel right if I don’t shower and get dressed.

When I’m inside my house the default is naked. Yes, that does mean when I get home from work all the clothes come off.

I only put clothes on at home if I’m cold or getting ready for sexy times with the spouse. Or if there’s company coming over/delivery coming/what I’m working on could get messy, etc.

Same here. I also change from “work clothes” to “house clothes” when I get home from work, specially if the work clothes are on the fancy side or the job site is dirty enough that I jump into the shower almost from the door. Some house clothes will be the same as “bed clothes”, depending on the time of year, but some of them never will: I’m uncomfortable doing stuff without a bra, but wouldn’t sleep wearing one; I have some old clothing which is ok for doing stuff in, but not for sleeping in (embroidery that’s uncomfortable lying down), and some which is ok for sleeping in but not for doing stuff in (too large).

I may not be completely dressed, but I always keep something handy to throw on if that unexpected knock comes to the door. My house is situated on a large lot so that even though I have large picture windows on one side, nobody could see much inside unless they came right up to the window, and if they did that, they’d be on camera.

I don’t want sweat or ass juice on my chair, so I put on some old shorts and a loose tee shirt. Commando, usually, and no socks EITHER!

If it’s a colder day, sweats (top and bottom) and tube socks :o

Nude all day… ? :dubious: … Dangerous for cooking or cleaning.

I put on clothes only to leave the house or if I have certain guests over (which guests qualify depends on the time of day and other factors). I won’t have anyone over without taking a shower and putting on makeup, I just put pajama pants back on after. And it’s not like I’m wearing a flannel button-down pajama shirt with sheep on it or something, I wear regular daytime t-shirts, and if it’s really cold, maybe a hoodie.

I cannot understand putting on clothes or, god forbid, shoes if I’m not planning to go anywhere or see anyone. I don’t need to impress myself with foot prisons and leg prisons.

For me it’s either a t-shirt and/or a sweatshirt and “fuzzies” (my wife’s and my colloquial term what I believe are normally referred to as “lounge pants”) and (rather beat up) slippers when it’s not that warm to a t-shirt and shorts and (usually) bare feet when it is (although what constitutes “warm” for me has changed in just a few short years - when my now-wife and I first got together - about 17 years ago, now - I’d make her crazy by opening all the windows to the condo anytime it was sunny out even if the temps weren’t any higher than about 50° F [10° C]. Now unless its at least 65° F [about 18° C] out I keep our doors and windows CLOSED!). Matter of fact wearing “regular” clothes at home these days makes me feel over-dressed.

Opposable thumbs. And fire!

If I’m just in the house on my own, it’s often just an ancient pair of combat trousers and a scraggly old T-shirt.

Yup, when I get home from work (where I’m on my feet all day), my first order of business is to take off my shoes and pants. Then I sit around in my T-shirt and boxers.

As for today, I woke up at 5:00AM (sleeping in, for me; I normally wake up at 4:00), and it’s 3:00PM now, and I’m still buck naked.

I had actually forgotten about this old Hank Williams, Jr. song when I made my OP, but just remembered it:

Buck Naked

*My girl said, You don’t know how it feels
To walk around in pantyhose and high heels
You oughtta try to wear a bra all day
You don’t know the price a girl’s gotta pay
We wear our clothes so tight we can’t move
She said you don’t know what a woman goes through

It feels so good to get buck naked …*

My default attire is jeans and a tunic top. Comfy and practical. There are few days that I don’t leave the house for some reason, even just to chauffer one of the offspring somewhere. On the rare day that I actually do get to stay home, I have been known to put on a pair of pajamas and claim that I am dressed for the day.

I work at home, so all I ever wear are gym shorts and a t-shirt. It’s also what I sleep in, so “getting dressed” means just putting on clean gym shorts and t-shirt.

What is this “day off” you refer to?

In order to keep some degree of dignity, I have a personal rule; I cannot drink unless I’m dressed. So, I can wake up and do leftover jello shots at 6 am, but I’m gonna get dressed first. Oh, and I drink on my days off, so I answered the poll “yes”.

Ok, now I’m curious. You *get dressed *to get ready for “sexy times?”

Not getting dressed just isn’t an option unless I’m so ill I can’t get out of bed.

I showered and dressed my first day home from the hospital after a c-section, and every day after. It’s just what I do.
