Sorry for the late thread.

This is for the discussion of the TV show as its own entity. The books do not exist in this thread. No book comparisons, references, anything.

The current open spoilers thread for discussion of both the books and TV show is here. More of them may open up with a different niche, but that seems to be the main one at the moment.

I’m watching it and wish I could set it to 2x speed.

In other words, I’m finding this episode boring.

Very boring.

I think they have tried to stretch too little story over too many episodes.

You know, once you’ve fed a dude to a dragon you sorta lose the high ground on that whole opposing violence thing. Quit looking so damn queasy, you’ve done worse.

I thought this episode was great. Several scenes where you could cut the tension with a knife. I figured early on Cersei was creating a monster with these Sparrows.

Good old Bronn, saved by boobs.

So far this season we’ve had an episode with no nudity, a wedding with no casualties and a beloved character saved from certain death at the last minute. It’s like bizarro game of thrones.

I loved it, but I’m predicting that AV Club gives it a low rating simply because the story moved so slowly that episode. I literally said, “We could be watching Jon killing wights, but no, we’re stuck here watching Gilly hump Sam.” I was never so glad to see slaves abused as I was when that scene concluded.

Couple of notes:

  1. How convienant that Ceresi didn’t have any guards with her.

  2. From the preview it looks like Jorah is in trouble next week, but technically, Dany dragged him back to her palace. She could have just had him ‘taken from her sight’. Wouldn’t be too nice to execute him when you’re the one who brought him to Meereen.

  3. I was glad Reek betrayed Sansa cause it proved me right when I said that her rape was NOT going to motivate him to save her. That he’s broken, and at best would reluctantly help her. I suppose something could happen that will make him climb that tower, but obviously it wasn’t the rape.

  4. I cheered when Tommen said he’d raise an army and execute every single fanatic. Finally, someone is thinking straight. It would be nice if he’d take his Kingsguard and march right up there to get nicer accomedations for his wife though.
edit: Is every man in England (or Wales or Scotland) 5’5"? Sansa is only like 5’9" and she towers over Theon, Jon and Ramsey.

That was Littlefinger securing Sansa from a vengful Cersei. She kept yelling, “I’m the Queen!” and I kept thinking, no you’re not. Who is officially running the country now?

Hmm Pycelle and Qyburn? probably Tommen mostly. Shit, is Littlefinger still in the small council?

I don’t get why the sand snake girl would save Bron like that. What’s in it for her?

Sam needs a way to get his girl and her child out of Castle Black.

Jorah’s still a badass, and Tyrion is ever the opportunist.

Cersei’s about to get hers. I look forward to that, almost as much as I look forward to seeing Roose and Lil Rapsey get theirs.

Wonder if Fire Witch girl is going to cross up Stannis and sacrifice his daughter anyway? I don’t think that would work out well for her…

No Arya this week :frowning:

Appreciation for a guy with a great voice? Respect for his fighting prowess? Satisfaction in getting him to practically beg for his life?

A lot of good developments in this episode:

  • Theon apparently sold Sansa out, though I’m still hoping that this is all part of a plan of his. Sansa got something sharp (a corkscrew?) so she’s presumably planning on introducing “toys” to Ramsey’s nightly rapes.

  • Jon set out to help the Free Folk, Aemon Targaryen’s watch ended, and we see that the First Ranger is still a huge, huge ass. Sam has once again shown courage in the face of certain ass-kicking and we know Ghost has his back. Also, Sam got lucky; it’s about time.

  • Winter seems to be starting, and Stannis’ army is running into trouble. Melisandre finally suggested that Stannis sacrifice Shireen. Stannis said “fuck no” and I predict that his awful shrew wife is going to do it anyway since she’s a brainless fanatic who hates her daughter anyway.

  • Daario told Danaerys that she should whack the masters and have done with it. Then she looked uncomfortable at the fighting pit. I wonder if she’s starting to think that the highborn of Mereen are beyond help. There might be an all-you-can-eat, dragon-assisted “pork” barbecue buffet for the former slaves soon.

  • Tyrion kicks his handler’s ass with his hands tied (which was the highlight of the episode). Jorah the Explorer takes out a bunch of dudes the Adam Jensen way (minus the candy bars). Danaerys meets Tyrion and FUCK WHY ISN’T THE NEXT EPISODE HERE YET I WANT TO FIND OUT HOW THAT GOES.

  • Short-haired Teenage Dornish Ninja Sand Snake maybe has self esteem issues, or that “antidote” was something else entirely. Hopefully Bronn has a stay of execution, but who knows?

  • Olenna is still working with Baelish, and he gave her some useful information. I think she’s going to invoke the “Mother’s Mercy” to rescue Lorace and Margaery. Olenna is just totally awesome, but it was novel to see her come up against the High Sparrow and have nothing to tempt him with. I think he’s humble and earnest, which makes him a much more dangerous opponent.

  • The last horse finally crosses the finish line WRT The Sparrows. The look on Cersei’s face when she realized that they were turning on her was priceless. I can’t believe she didn’t see that coming. I really hope that Olenna rescues Lorace and Margaery and Cersei just rots there.

I’m curious as to what LF’s gift to Oleanna was? Info that Lancel slept with Tommen? High Sparrow should already have had that info. I suppose he could have been talking about the last day, but he made it sound like Lancel confessed all when he joined up.

We’re doomed. DOOOOOOMED.

Now I have this image of Tommen deep in thought tapping his fingers while Pycelle and Qyburn occasionally clear their throats and shift in their chairs.

I liked the scene with Margeary and Cersei.

I suspect that the young man Olenna will receive as a gift is Thomen himself. With Cersei in prision who better than Grandma to counsel him?

I’m pretty sure it was the info about Lancel, otherwise her subsequent arrest makes no sense. Lancel joined because of his guilt but that doesn’t mean he told the High Sparrow what had happened.

Wait, what? Please tell me that was supposed to say Cersei?

BAHAHA…yes…oops.
