Anyone remember Leonard Postero who had a weekly radio program on handicapping College F-Ball game and penned a newsletter called Leonard’s Losers? I think Leonard would have done quite well with WEB-CASTing his show.
I hadn’t thought of him in years and looked in him on wiki. I met him one time, back in the 1980’s
It looks like Leonard Losers died about 10 years ago but has been reincarnated into Stanley Stinkers.
Stupid ESPN only games! I dumped cable due to the hugely excessive costs here. I’m loving the antenna, but I do wish more games were on the Big 3 (or 4) networks. This ESPN, ESPN2 and NFL Network crap sucks. On my old cable subscription, I had to pay for the higher tiers of service to get those channels.
I’ll be able to watch online thru various sources, but it still stinks imho. YMMV!
I’m in, with that yankee MSU, Central Florida, Oklahoma (cuz Roll Tide!), Ohio State, and Florida State to lose. It’s worth dealing with gloating Damn War Eagles to continue the SEC streak.
The toughest game for me to pick was Stanford vs. Michigan State. They’re both physical teams with strong defenses. On that game, I guessed.
The easiest game to pick was Alabama, who are just waaay better than Oklahoma.
And Auburn needed too much luck to get to the BCS game. This week, their luck runs out.
After that, I went with my long-started bowl theorem: bet against the team that’s pissed off it isn’t in a much better bowl, especially when it’s facing a team that’s happy to be there.
Hence, Baylor and Ohio State (who thought, not long ago, they might be in the BCS game) go down. And if Dabo Swinney wants the Texas job, he’ll pile on the points.
Oklahoma currently holds that “championship belt” which they won off the Cowboys who had just stolen it from Baylor: I fully expect it to end up in the hands of the Tide – nice to see it keep changing hands after Baylor held onto it for so long.
And Auburn is just on too much of a lucky streak right now, they will win in their usual odd fashion, I think.
I keep hearing about Auburn’s “luck” and I must take issue with it. The 4th an 18 against Georgia was luck, I will grant anybody that. However, that was the only “luck”. Just one play. What about the Iron Bowl, you might ask? Well, let’s talk about the Iron Bowl.
That game was tied before Bama tried that ill advised field goal attempt. If you take that play out then Auburn would have still won in overtime. The Tigers were at home, the Tide doesn’t have a kicking game… AU would have won in OT. There was no “lucky streak” in Auburn fighting the number one team in the nation into a corner where they can beat them. That was sixty minutes of Auburn making its case.
And let’s not forget that Auburn won the SEC championship the next week by seventeen points. “Luck” does not give you 17 points.
Thanks for starting the threads, Zeldar, and for being so good about doing each week in a timely manner. It’s been a real hoot to pick losers; somehow it’s different than picking the winners.
