Yes. There’s no '30s as such, just everything before 1940.
1940s = 1940-1949
1950s thru 1990s = same spans
2000s = everything since 1999.
Due to the big numbers of titles, the 1940s and 1950s were split into A and B sections, mostly chronological breaks at the halfway point.
1960s will be up soon, split like the 40s and 50s. 2000s likely the same deal.
After all that, there will be some method of dealing with “overflow” – titles that were mentioned after the polls had been posted. Right now there are 55 such things and likely will be more if history’s a judge.
After all those prelims, there will be some way of coming down to another round of Leaders (possibly Top Five from each poll) to come up with the Top X-Number that will be a one-vote-per-voter sort of thing.
Of course, since this thread is for discussion, I’m open to better ideas.
It’s been a bit of a run! Still more to come. Almost as heavy as The Wire ordeal a while back. However, it’s not as uncommon as it used to be to have multiple threads/polls on some subject.
A bracket may still come into play on this one. We’ll just have to see.
Before I get to my idea, I’m going to spell out my acronyms/initialisms.
For your borderline obsessive compulsive follow through on this project you rate not just an intialism but a nested initialism - OMFG (OCD Military Film Guy). I’m also going to refer to Finalized Ultimate Battle film Assessment Ranking (FUBAR).
I like the idea of ending this with a top 100. It’s a touch more work but not all that much more than some options. Compared to the prep and first round it’s simple. OMFG you are just the guy to create the top 100 FUBAR list.
After the current round, I’d like to see the top 100 (across all polls selected by percent of the vote in their polls). Only the top 50 move on to the next round. 51-100 are locked in position; that’s their position in the FUBAR list.
The next round is split in two sets of 25 and we vote for 8. Only the top 5 in each moves on with the extra votes helping to rank order 11-50 in the FUBAR list. Ties could be decided by their first round percent of votes.
One poll with ten movies in the round after. Three votes and the top three move on. Movies 4-10 receive their FUBAR listing based on score in this round and tie breaker being the last round percentage again.
One last round of three with one vote. “There can be only one.” At the end of this round we have OMFGs Top 100 FUBAR list published for our leisure time guidance.

Yes, indeed. That’s some good game plan all right. Once we see how the 2000s break out, I plan to post in one thread the Top Five from all the prelim threads just to see how his idea looks in real life.
Then doing the grunt work to make sense out of the World Famous Oveflow File ought to get us moving on that phase within the next week or so.

Following DinoR’s suggestions above I have dispensed with showing the “0 votes” and instead shown everything that got at least 10% of that poll’s votes.
This should give us a sense of the population of reasonable titles to consider for a first phase of voting.
Further discussion and tweaking of the ideas DinoR proposed could keep us busy until I have dealt with the Overflow File and we have voted on its contents.
