Nope. Compare Robbie with “the Robot”. Robbie was probably an inspiration for the Lost in Space version, but they were definitely not one and the same.

Back during my film school days, the professor explained that they were indeed the same robot, but retooled to look more aesthetically pleasing for the contempoary audience.

I’m guessing that the author is referring to Robbie’s guest appearance on Lost in Space, as noted above. He was probably altered slightly from his appearance in Forbidden Planet. Both robots appeared, for example, in the episode “War of the Robots” from the first season.
