14 k of g in a f p d

Here’s a cool dictionary of units of measure

http://www.unc.edu/~rowlett/units/index.html

Thank you! I was trying to do something with “dynasty” when I came up with “kings of Germany,” but I blanked on the F and P. That’s perfect! (but probably wrong as far as the OP)

mittu is officially on my shit list for abandoning this thread.

I’m 80% sure that the “k” doesn’t stand for “kinds” these tests rarely use a common noun for the abbreviations. It most certainly is a more specific thing.

Heh.

Tried kinds, kings, kilos, kilometers, kilobytes, kilotons, karats, and several others. Also flat panel display, and four (or five) part/pairs/per day/deck/drama.

No luck.

14 Kinds of Gay in a Fudge Packing Discotheque?

Well this is driving me krazy.

in case it helps anybody else think of something.
Kernals of grain?

Okay, I smell wires burning. Gotta walk away.

This is making me crazy too. Oh, and I wonder if the “f” can’t be a number–wouldn’t all numbers in the phrase be written as numerals, not words?

Earlier I was trying something like “14 kinds of grain” but didn’t get anywhere with that. I suspect we are being scammed, since Googling gives you zippo. If you Google “7 d in a w” you get prodigious hit quantity.

Well, maybe mittu will come back and finally tell us where s/he got it from.

Except wouldn’t that be a bit of a cheat? I mean, if “14” is expressed in numbers, then it would seem more reasonable that all numbers were expressed in numbers – oh, you know what I mean.

I.e. (or do I mean “e.g.”?): 10 p o s i a 5 p b = 10 pounds of shit in a 5 pound bag.

I don’t think so - not if the number is part of the phrase rather than just being a quantity.

I’ve been thinking about this one too. Thought of kinds of grain… but got nowhere. F P could be full page or front page. 14 kinds of grrrr in a full page diatribe.

Fourteen knots of gust in a fast pilot’s departure.

Given the complete lack of hits on this puzzle using Google and Yahoo, I’m beginning to think, as others have hinted, that we are being messed with. It seems likely to me that there is a mistake, inadvertent or deliberate, in the puzzle. mittu, where did you find this puzzle?

I agree. When I first came to the thread I found a site that had hundreds of these types of puzzles, but nothing close to this. I have to wonder if there is a mistake here.

Googling ‘14 k of g’:

There’s a Oriental Castle No. 14, K. of G. E., Inc showing a payment in 1917 listed in the Archives of Maryland.

Also: ‘Mark 10 14 K of G is as a child - receive as they do’ at the Freedom Friends Church message board.

I tried pieces of it too, like you did, trying to isolate the mistake.

Good grief, have you guys not worked this out yet? I left this thread alone for a full day thinking that when I came back some smart doper would have put me out of my misery.

**mittu ** is off my Christmas card list.

14 Kinds of Gullible in Fairly Pointless Deliberation.

I agree. Mistake or windup.

14 kinds of gum in a full pallet display?

Everyone may be barking up the wrong tree, I think this comes from a famous saying or advertising slogan, something like that. Like “Wonder Bread helps build strong bodies in 12 different ways”. Or not.
