14 k of g in a f p d

[planet of the heston] Damn this thread! Damn this thread to HELL!!! [/poth]

You might want to consider that “millennium” is one of the most commonly misspelled words out there.

Bah. Someone already mentioned it. I might consider reading all the posts before I respond.

If it is, I’m going to be well peeved.

14 something in a Floating Point Decimal ?

Fourteen kilos of goo in a fatally packed derriere.

I don’t know about you guys but I have 14 kinds of gestures in a f**ckin pissed-off Doper.

ok, ok, “from a…”

All I can thin of for “f p d” is full plated dinner. (I just built a website for a caterer.)

14 kinds of gerbils in a fudge packed derrier!

14 Kinds of Glitter in a Formal Party Dress?

Except for sock puppets.

How about the a as a word - any four, all five etc. 14 kinds of games in any five party days

Are the answers anywhere? Or can anyone help me with some of them?

I’m up to 18 of the first 33 but the rest have got me stumped. How culturally biased is the test? As I am neither from the US nor UK and English is not my first language I was wondering how much of a difference this makes. Or am I just not bright enough?

High-Tech Magic's fun MENSA Test Answers (although he spelled the answer to Q32 wrong, as mentioned in previous posts)

I think so. You have to be some sort of Catholic sports buff to get some of the answers right.

meep!! I never expected all this from an innocent question. Apologies for abandoning the thread but I have had a lot of computer problems recently so my access is erratic.

I’m afraid I can’t shed any more light on the question, a friend of mine sent it along with others to me in a text message, they were all easy to answer except that one. I believe that he got them in a list from his work, I am seeing him later this afternoon so I will make sure that there isn’t a typo in the message he sent me. I would think he will be able to get the answer from whoever gave him the list at work so one way or another we should find an answer eventually.

Thanks mittu. If your mate sent you a typo, would you give him a chinese wrist-burn or something on behalf of the dopers?

I can’t believe nobody has appealed to Cecil to intercede, since we lowly ingrates are unable to crack the mystery of the Da Vinci puzzle. Surely this would be a mere dust mote in his universe, nay a crumb he might toss the teeming multitude?

14 kings of ___ in a full Ptolemy dynasty?

I keep going back to “14 karats of gold” or “14 kilograms of gold” but I can’t find anything that fits “A F P D.” There’s a famous structure in Germany whose roof contains 14 kilos of gold in its gilded shingles, but that doesn’t work. There’s probably lots of statuary and jewelry that contains 14k gold, but damned if I can figure out anything that fits.

14 kinds of graft in a faulty police department?
14 killings of graduates in a faculty parking debate?
14 kilograms of grass in a fine packed doobie?

Okay, I got nothing.

Obviously, the number 14 is significant here. So “14 kilos of grass” or the like would just be nonsensical. Things associated with that number are limited, it would seem. Several dynasties had 14 kings. In the biblical realm, there were 14 kings in the lineage of Jesus. There is, as mentioned 14k gold.

Hit submit too soon. Fourteen karat gold would seem to be a natural, except for the unnatural necessity of saying 14 karats of gold. These types of games rely on the commonplace, such as “7 d in a w”, so unless this is a quiz for Mensa, something is wrong or missing.
