15th Annual Superbowl Early Picks thread

Rams 23, Patriots 21

Brady is sacked in the endzone in the final minutes, resulting in not just a game-winning safety for LA but also crippling injuries for Brady that send him out of the League forever. There is much rejoicing.

That would surely deflate his ego.

Just ftr, the last 3 times the Pats lost their first game, they went on to win the SB.

They lost the first game this year.

Patriots 24, Vikings 23

Patriots 27, Saints 24

Vikings 17, Jaguars 2

Because I always like to see a safety!

Vikings 27, Patriots 20

Vikings, first team to lose the Superbowl at home…

Vikings 28, Steelers 31

LA Rams spit up in the Rose Bowl stadium, all those years ago. That is like ~20 miles from Anaheim, where they were playing their home games at the time. One might argue that the Raiders home stadium was closer at the time, but the Raiders were not in that SB.

The Rams played in the Coliseum that season, they moved to Anaheim the following season. The Raiders didn’t move to L.A. for a couple more seasons. But yes, I think that this was the closest thing any team has yet had to a home game in the Super Bowl (about 14 miles from their actual home stadium).

I should note that I mostly C&P’d last year’s OP and adjusted a few words. However, last year’s first game was at 4pm EST, while tomorrow’s is at 4:35. Hence, the deadline is later – I am going to say 4:30 for the last entry.

Saints 31 Patriots 17.

I’m actually rooting for the Vikings to win it all, but there are too many Vikings/Patriots picks already.

There are only 12 Vikes/Pats picks, 19 overall with Minnesota.

Interestingly, because of the Home/Away alternation in the SB, if the Vikes make it to the big game, they will not be the home team. In their own stadium.

I’ve heard rumor that the Vikings could petition the league to be the home team, so as to be able to use their own locker room. I’m perfectly happy knowing they’ll be watching from a couple of luxury boxes.
In tangentially related news, I just picked up a job with a catering and event company partnered with a building in downtown Minneapolis that has been rented out by ESPN for their events during Super Bowl week. Look out for a Squirrel wandering around.

Pittsburgh 24
Minnesota 17

New Orleans Saints 27
Pittsburgh Steelers 24

Saints 33 Jaguars 24

Hey, asahi, it looks like Oaky already has this score. Wanna try again?

Then a better prediction would have been Vikings 4 Jaguars 2…

Jaguars 24 Vikings 23
