I chose my team the first time I played, and they lost a heartbreaker in the second round. So I did not choose them after that and they went all the way. I kept on not choosing them, but that became less and less effective.

No one had the Eagles playing either New England or Jacksonville, so if they beat the Vikings next week, there will be hope for several players and a lot of bickering about the winner. The Vikings look like maybe they have a bit of magic going for them, though.

If the Eagles win and no one has the Patriots losing by that exact score, the title will go to phungi.

Wait, what? Can you give an example of a result where the Eagles win but phungi doesn’t win the pool? Do we really have a set of rules where you can pick the winner of the Super Bowl but lose to someone who didn’t? I thought picking the winner correctly was always ahead of either picking the loser or anything to do with picking the scores, as enalzi said last page:

I think everyone is good with it. The only question from last year was if we wanted to switch 2 and 3:

1. Picked both teams, got winner correct
   **2. Picked both teams, got winner wrong
2. Picked winner correctly**
3. Picked loser correctly
4. Closest to actual score (number of points the prediction was off off from winning team score plus the number of points off from the losing team score)

It ended up being a moot point (as multiple teams picked the Pats over Falcons), but I don’t think any resolution was made.

I have not done this before, so maybe I got confused. I imagine the twelve who picked the loser would be out, since there are picks for either team to win.

I have a bad cold and this is hurting my head today.

There are 15 who picked the Patriots to win, but none of them picked Pats vs Eagles. So if the Pats win, we have to go to a closest to actual score model, with the score they picked for whoever they picked for the loser standing in for the Eagles score.

If the Eagles win, phungi wins. Period. No need to look at who picked the loser correctly, who got closest to a score, anything like that.

The score comes only into play if either (a) or multiple people make the same “winning” pick, whether it be picked both and got winner correctly or picked winner but not loser, or any other rule 1-4 above; (b) no one picked EITHER SB team correctly.

I think we agreed back on page 1 to swap 2 & 3 as I quoted above, so picking the winner & getting the loser wrong beats picking both correctly but not picking the winner. It doesn’t matter this year anyway, since no one picked Eagles & Pats at all.
