5th Annual SDMB Early Super Bowl Pick Contest

Woohoo, it’s that time of year again – time to see who can make the most accurate Super Bowl prediction a month ahead of time.

In year 1, it was Trillionaire who beat the pack.
Year 2, Uncommon Sense schooled the rest of us.
In Year 3, it was Airman Doors, USAF who walked away with all the marbles.
And then last year, it was Grits and Hard Toast who came away with the crown.

Want to add your name to our illustrious list of winners? It’s simple: post your pick for the two Super Bowl teams, and the final score.

As is tradition, I’ll give myself zero chance by picking with my heart instead of my head. I’ll be looking for some Week 17 payback by picking the Giants over the Patriots, 38-35.

As always, just in case you don’t follow football but still wanna play along, just pick an AFC team, an NFC team, and a couple of numbers that sound vaguely football-scorish.

AFC Teams:
New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers, Indianapolis Colts, San Diego Chargers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans

NFC Teams:
Dallas Cowboys, Green Bay Packers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Seattle Seahawks, New York Giants, Washington Redskins

The Pats will beat the Redskins, 28 to 24.

Cowboys - 31
Colts - 24

Steelers 13
Cowboys 10

If it does go down like that (which it almost certainly won’t) my household will be waist deep in blood from the open warfare that my wife and I will be engaged in. My son, while favoring me in the colossal struggle, will certainly have some empathy for his mother up to the moment that she dies a thousand times inside.

My creamjeans fantasy pick:

Cowboys 35
Chargers 21

My REAL pick:

Cowboys 35
Patriots 31

Green Bay 14
Indianapolis 13

Green Bay 35
New England 31

New England Patriots 41
Dallas Cowboys 37

In an incredible matchup that nobody can believe (and nobody wanted), the Steelers edge out a victory over Seattle 20-10

Oh god, that would be awful.

Um… Seattle-14, Anybody-3

Heh…if you want to make it past the first round, I’d be a little more specific. I have a feeling “Anybody” will lose in the Wild Card round.

Colts-31
Cowboys-30

Chargers 24
Cowboys 20

Packers 31
Colts 28

ETA: can’t spell Colts :smack:

Patriots-196
Dallas-0

I have no strong biases.

(OK, real pick: Pats 34, 'Boys 24.)

Patriots 41, Cowboys 24

Since I am going for back to back wins in the SDMB Early Superbowl Pick Contest, I will go with the team who is also going for back to back wins.

Colts 24
Packers 17

Good luck to everyone!

I was going to pick the Colts over the Packers, but it’s been done, and done well. So instead I’ll show my hometown favoritism and pick the last coach of the Bucs over the current coach of the Bucs:

Colts 35
Bucs 17

Wild card weekend:

Jags over Steelers
SD over TEN
TB over NYG
SEA over WAS

Divisional
Pats over Jacksonville (good game, though)
Colts over SD
Dallas over TB (I think that’s the right matchup)
GB over SEA

Championships
Pats over Colts
Dallas over GB

Superbowl

Pats 41
Cowboys 34

How are ties resolved? Combined difference between the predicted score and actual score for each team? Total points? Same thing, actually… Something else?
