In the event of a tie in our pick 'em pool, I think they should go to overtime. I’ll draft a petition for the commissioner with a link to this thread.

Patriots 42
Green Bay 24
The Patriots get their revenge for Super Bowl XXXI.
Patriots 38
Packers 27
Patriots 20
Packer 13
Holy shit it’s tough predicting the NFC. In the AFC, it’s probably the Pats, maybe the Colts, and a slim chance it’s the Jags. But every single NFC team has a healthy dose of suck, so who the fuck knows.
Colts 33
Redskins 19
Couple of hours to go before playoff action gets under way – get those picks in here! You don’t even have to know a damn thing about the game…just throw out a few team names listed in the OP and some numbers to go along with them.
As for tiebreaking, SenorBeef, hmmm…let’s go with “closest to the winning team’s score, followed by closest to losing team’s score”. Not that we’ll need that much of a tiebreaker, but just in case…
Chargers 24
Packers 20
Steelers over Cowboys 38-21.
Hey, at least I’m unique…
I’m having trouble figuring it out at all, much less a second-order tiebreaker. Here’s my swipe at it:[list=#][li]Picked one team, but they didn’t win/lose as you predicted[/li][li]Picked winner correctly[/li][li]Picked loser correctly[/li][li]Picked both teams[/li][li]Picked both teams AND the winner[/li][li]Closest to final margin of victory[/li][li]Closest to total points[/list]Some examples where everybody missed everything except two players.[/li]
Player 1: Colts over Packers
Player 2: Packers over Patriots
Actual: Packers over Colts
P2 got the winner right, P1 got both teams right. Who wins? By my rules above, P1 would win the tiebreaker since he satisfied a higher condition in the list. (Correctly picked both teams, though the wrong team won.)
Player 1: Patriots 35, Cowboys 28
Player 2: Patriots 42, Cowboys 20
Actual: Patriots 42, Cowboys 35
P2 nailed the winning score, but P1 correctly guessed the margin of victory, so (again just by my off-the-cuff rules) P1 would win having satisfied the higher criteria.
Am I close, or is this way too much thought to put into it?
I just realized there is a very good chance I’m going to be eliminated after the very first playoff game. Probably shoulda picked two teams who have a bye just to ensure I stay alive until at least next week.
Ah well, I always go out immediately in these things anyway. (Much like my beloved Giants.)
EDIT: Steps 2 & 3 are backwards above; picking the winner should be a higher priority than picking the loser.
Patriots: 27
Cowboys: 17
It’s my understanding that the object is #5 alone, with 6 and 7 being tie breakers.
So what happens if it’s Colts over Giants?

The Great Unloved: Nobody picked the Jags, Titans or Seahawks.
So, after Wild Card Weekend, we have six players who are halfway eliminated:
tdn - Patriots 28, [del]Redskins 24[/del]

DiggitCamara - [del]Steelers 20[/del], Seahawks 10

Ellis Dee - Colts 33, [del]Redskins 19[/del]
jtgain - [del]Steelers 38[/del], Cowboys 21
DiggitCamara picked the Seahawks.
With any luck, by the end of the weekend I will be fully eliminated. I suppose I deserve it, but I don’t want to hear about how well the Cowboys are doing.
Karma’s a bitch.
I didn’t see the post until today, so to be fair I’ll pick for the February 2009 Super Bowl, whatever number SB game that is in Roman numerals:
Cleveland 35
Detroit 17.
Why yes, I am delusional, why do you ask?
I suppose the Conference Championship games will be against AZ and HOU?
