2 Trump Questions.

Firstly, I cannot fathom why no one has outright asked him how many of his kids he intends to give jobs in his administration. I’m pretty sure that’s his plan, and I seem to recall him hinting at it, at one time. So why hasn’t anyone asked him this?

Secondly, regarding the six foot portrait, regardless of whose money was spent on the thing, doesn’t it really say everything you need to know about the man? Who spends on a six foot portrait of themselves?

Now I feel dirty because I need to half-ass defend Donald. The painting was sold as a fund-raiser, so him buying it isn’t egotistical per se - it’s similar to the cake auctions we used to have in Cub Scouts, where people would spend big bucks buying the cake their kid had decorated.

Of course, it would be much more defensible if he had spent his own money on the damned thing.

Well, there’s anti nepotism laws on the books now that apply to the President. Don Trump, Jr. could not have an official job in government the way Kennedy served as Attorney General.

That doesn’t mean they could not be obnoxious gadflies not on the taxpayer’s dime.

Because it’s pointless to ask him things. He’ll lie or just babble.

That’s not Trump, he’s not smart enough to lie. It’s that bimbo Conway doing the lying, Trump just mouths her words.

I’d sure as hell buy a six-foot portrait of myself for $20,000, as long as it was somebody else’s $20,000.

Of course, I’d buy myself pretty much anything as long as it was somebody else’s $20,000.

…and I would tip the artist a hundred bucks out of my own pocket to make me less older and fatter.

Yeah this is one of those few cases where a Trump scandal isn’t actually quite as bad as it sounds (although it’s definitely not good). The painting in question is worth no where near the $20,000 paid for it. It was put together in like 20 minutes by a speed painter. Melania Trump actually won the auction at $10,000, but voluntarily added an extra $10,000 to the price by upping her bid to $20,000 despite lack of opposition. So I could see how they might view the $20,000 as a cheritable donation rather than a purchase, much like someone who donated $120 to their local PBS station might write it off their taxes, without taking into account that they got a Yoga DVD for their donation.

That said it was a pretty lousy return for investment for a charitable foundation given that the artist got 50% or the proceeds, and the law is clear that this sort of think is a no no.

Smells rotten to me. From the Washington Post:

So he used charity money to buy a picture of himself. So where is it?

After nearly a decade of his depravity and corruption being funneled into the portrait, it is far too hideous for public viewing.

Why would you want to be fatter?

Or, a bigger portrait with larger hands.

You’re onto something, OP. Trump definitely holds himself in high regard. I wonder if anyone else picked up on it?

Take a moment to stop a slanderous rumor on the internet, he had nothing whatever to do with any of the Adam Sandler movies. Nobody really knows how these things get started.

You are thinking too small. The kids will manage his portfolio, which will not be put in a blind trust. Trump will direct billions of dollars towards his organization, just as he direction millions of campaign money into his organization.

Trump’s self dealing will require a supine Republican congress. He will get that. He is way more motivated than they are. Liberals will complain. Fox News and Limbaugh won’t care: expect false equivalences.

Christ Amighty, considering the way HE looks now, I’d hate to see the picture.

Now I’M going to feel dirty for half-pass defending Donald.

Because he bought the portrait with money from the Trump Foundation, he probably thought he was spending his own money.

(OK, that was more like a quarter-ass defend :D)

Yeah, yeah, he had it produced then bought it back at a big cost to support a charity. I get that.
H
But anything would have done as well, right? Like gold TRUMP cuff links, or, well, anything. Which he could also have overbid for, to the same end, right?

But no, his CHOICE, was a six foot self portrait!

Seriously, who’s first thought is a six foot portrait of himself?

He can’t formally assign any of his children to jobs in his administration.

Thank JFK. He made brother Robert Attorney General. The political shit storm afterwards ensured that no other President made that mistake.

IIRC didn’t they pass a nepotism law because of JFK? I don’t have time to research it now.

I looked the nepotism law up. Passed in 1967 and amended in 1978.
