2004 Election: Which of these is more important for Democrats/Liberals?

In the upcoming November elections, what would Democrats and/or Liberals prefer?:

  1. Kerry winning the presidential election vs. Bush

or

  1. Winning back 1 of the houses of Congress

How about?:

  1. Kerry winning the presidential election vs. Bush

or

  1. Winning back both houses of Congress.

I would guess that they’d prefer both houses of Congress, followed by Kerry winning (and losing both Houses), and finally winning just 1 House.

Bush out out out is my #1. Because when he leaves, he takes Ashcroft (AKA Satan Himself) with him.

Tough question. Having both houses of congress means they can bugger bush’s plans then talk about how he does nothing; having the presidency means that you are the man…

I’d have to lean towards getting Kerry in the White House. Bush is done in one more term if he wins, and I doubt Cheney is going to run after Bush is done. That means it would likely be newcomer vs. newcomer and a clean slate for both parties. If Kerry gets the big chair, then the repubs would be sending somebody new after him in four years, which gives the dems the slight edge in that election.

I second that opinion. I’ll add getting control of the military, the other executive offices and, most importantly, a chance for a new start diplomatically with all the folks Bush has managed to piss off over his term.

Congress would be a nifty consolation prize, however.

Bush out.

Imagine how dangerous George W. Bush will be if he doesn’t have to worry about re-election…

President, mainly because of Attorney General.

Bush is the embodiment of every liberal group’s worst nightmare. Civil liberties into the shredder, public schools hung out to dry, women’s right to choose threatened, foreign policy sold for oil profits, polluters gone wild, and everything everything everything helps the very rich.

Bob Woodward’s new book says Bush has made a deal with Prince Bandar of Saudi Arabia to lower gasoline prices in time for the election. As for myself, I wonder if the same manipulation happened four years ago.

Frankly, The only thing I’d take over Bush losing is a miraculous conversion of Scalia, Rehnquist and Thomas to the side of Good.

It’d still be pretty close, though.

I might also take both Houses of Congress over the Presidency IF Jeb loses Florida too.

Getting Bush out is of paramount importance, even in the unlikely event that that doesn’t mean getting Kerry in. (well, come to think of it, I’m not really a Democrat myself).

Getting Bush out and Kerry in would be great.

Getting Bush out and Nader in instead, while massively unlikely, is something I would still celebrate.

Getting Bush out and Lyndon LaRouche in would be a desirable exchange, if it came to that.

Getting Bush out and Pat Buchanan in would also be an improvement on what we’ve got.

Hell, getting Bush out and Pat Robertson in would even meet with my approval at this point. (His politics would be just as bad in nearly every venue, but chances are he’d have better judgment)

I could be wrong on this, but I believe that Jeb Bush was already re-elected in Florida in 2002, so he’s just biding his time for his 2008 Presidential run.
That ought to get the firebrand liberals here in a real tizzy.

Hell, I wouldn’t be surprised, if Bush is re-elected, if he doesn’t just appoint his brother as his successor and tell everyone that his god told him that it was “the right thing to do”. Then the Supremes upheld the decision.

Which brings up another reason to get Dubya out: he’s likely to have 1-2 Supreme Court replacements in the next 4-5 years.

Just checked, Bush defeated McBride 56-43% in 2002, or 2,828,288 - 2,172,702.

It isn’t the man, it’s the baggage he brings with him. Bush must go in order to get rid of the true satan, Karl Rove, and the other flying monkeys (Ashcroft, Rumsfeldt, et. al.) who are dismantling the protections that took years to put into place and who are mucking around with onerous and unnecessary changes to our constitution.

Getting Bush out is my top priority. Both houses would be nice, too. But really, it’s Bush and his cabinet that need to go.

Bush out. Even with a less controversial administration, I like it when the executive branch is more liberal and the legislative branch is more conservative, make 'em work while keeping the purse strings tight.
