2004 movies

What “significant” (by that I mean big and/or good) movies are being released in 2004 (in the US)? I’m thinking with ROTK coming out in less than 4 weeks I need something else to look forward to (even if it can’t match my anticipation)

I know of:
Kill Bill part 2
Harry Potter 3
Troy
Some reaserch added:
Aliens vs Predator
Shrek 2
The Incredibles

I’m actually more interested in Hellboy after seeing the trailer (tho not super interested)

Spider-Man 2?

Right you are.

I don’t know when the US release is but I am looking forward to Howl’s Moving Castle by Miyazaki which will be released in Japan next year.

Also the Coen’s remake of Ladykillers.

Here is a list of 2004 releases:

I’m looking forward to:

Kill Bill Volume 2 (most anticipated cultural event of all for me!)
Shaolin Soccer (should finally get released by Miramax next year)
Spider-Man 2
Hellboy
Troy
Van Helsing (Hugh Jackman vs. Dracula, Frankenstein’s Monster, and other classic Universal-style monsters in this Gothic horror/action movie… sounds to me like the Castlevania video games!)

And holiday-time 2003 releases:
Last Samurai
The Alamo
Paycheck (because it’s a John Woo movie, not because it’s a Ben Affleck movie)

Also, it’s a Philip K Dick (Blade Runner and Minority Report) story!

Not to mention “We Can Remember It for You Wholesale,” which because Total Recall:slight_smile:

re: Hellboy - I just saw the trailer, not at all familiar with the source material, but the first question that came to mind was “How is this different than the X-men movies?”

Hellboy is based on the excellent comics by Mike Mignola. He is the world’s greatest paranormal investigator, and he was originally a baby demon from hell conjured by Nazis during World War II. The Americans found him first and raised him in a loving, caring environment, so he became noble and heroic (proving “nurture” trumps “nature.”) Now Hellboy heads the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense (BPRD) and fights menaces like monsters, ghosts, giant monkeys, Nazi madmen, robots, and things that are far worse than any of those.

I’m looking forward to Hidalgo - starring Viggo Mortensen.

Dodgeball: The Movie starring Vince Vaughn and Ben Stiller. How can a movie about dodgeball possibly be bad? I’m really jazzed for this movie.

Oliver Stone’s Alexander looks like it could be good.

The others I’m looking forward too have already be mention.

arrrrrg

Ahem… Ocean’s 12 might be out in late 2004

**Big Fish[/] will play only in limited release in December, so most people won’t have a chance to see it till January.
